Someone gave me an iPad. Help me use it.

I received an iPad as a gift. I've hate Apple and refuse to buy their products, but I'm not turning that down. And... well, it's pretty #### cool.
Okay, so what's the best way I should be using this thing other than watching movies/shows/midget pron? What are the must have apps? I have to often give presentations and I do a lot of graphics work sometimes. I know HOW to use the #### thing; I just need to know what to do that I'm probably not thinking to do that's pretty cool.
Keep in mind I'm not going to buy any iPhones, Apple watches, or some device that turns my home into a digital prayer meeting for Steve Jobs followers.
Also, how easy is it to tap into projectors and such if giving a presentation at a conference? Like taking this instead of a laptop?

I won an ipad air several years back, and it's been good and beyond worth what I paid for ($0.00)
it's been showing it's age and iNeglect - Netflix and ESPN app won't work on it anymore, which was roughly 80% of what I used it for.
that said Catahoula® not sure what graphics you'd be interested in, but the Autodesk Sketchbook was cool, and i think completely free now (it was MOSTLY free at first, but had add-on template/marker packs to buy...i THINK that's all included now)
Also Morpholio Trace - used to be a REALLY cool sketch app, where you'd actually have overlaid layers of 'trace' paper...was super cool. They'd updated it along the way, added features, but took some of teh coolness away from it. I haven't opened it in years, but it was also mostly-free

No, here is a thing that's not cool at all, ad you probably already know this but if you are an office 365 user you should be able to install ipad versions of Word, excel powerpoint & outlook on your existing subscription.
As far as a projector tho? No idea. I'd stick to midget pron.

I had an iPad yrs ago, and I've always had iPhones, but I never got used to the iPad, even after getting one of the case/keyboard Logitech? things. So I've been using Surface Pro's w/keyboard for work for years, on the second one and have been using the first one for home use out of the office. I hate the smaller keyboard, but have gotten better on the touch screen. Basically, I'm slowly becoming a dinosaur. When they come out with one that reads your brain waves for all the actions, I'm toast.

Duck duck go for t-netting
There is probably a better way but I hook up an old Apple TV box to the projector/TV I got for $5 at a yard sale and use the mirror function to present stuff with it.

I no longer use paper for anything since I can have people sign in blue ink on my iPad using the Apple Pencil. Because of the portrait layout, I use it to review documents when I am on the road and can’t throw them up on my portrait layout monitor.

I can do everything easier on my MacBook Air or iPhone. Wife uses it all the time.

as a laptop. I can't imagine using anything else now. I do know that if one is having to regularly send and receive multiple document files to people using different platforms, doing so can at times get a bit glitchy. I recently wrote a short book of about 10 chapters, and sending it to editors and the publisher got to be a chore: if I intended to pursue that long term, I might get a laptop. But other than that, it works flawlessly. But you need the keyboard for speed.
