Construction workers kept them a secret for a long time, but it was inevitable millennials and generation z'ers would eventually find them and drive the cost up too high for construction workers, kind of like how they found New Balance shoes a few years and now us dads can no longer afford them.

No, they absolutely do not. It's a status symbol. My Coleman works just fine thank!

I feel like some people would put themselves in debt just so they can have the latest iPhone and other status symbols

Agreed. My phone died last weekend and I bought one of the lower priced Samsung Android phones they had. Last one lasted since 2016 and it was the best phone I ever had.
