Stadium Expansion/Contraction...Yes or No?
Jan 13, 2017, 4:09 PM
|
|
Is now the time to increase the size of the stadium with a new East Zone project?
I am thinking the East End could be enclosed, offering premium seating like the West EZ while leaving a tunnel and hill seating area..basically the hill stays but a box/suite area with a viewing part deck be added oon top of the hill. A grand portico that allows for the team to enter, dare I say similar to what Ohio State has.
Thoughts? If not now, when?

We do not fill up now except for FSU, dirtpeckers, and looserville.

I would suggest enclosing the West end zone above the WEZ. If that makes any sense, it would leave the Horseshoe feel and add about 15,000 more seats.

They should have made the west end zone bigger with more seats to start with... They should have wrapped that upper level around more... Don't mess with the hill...

Maybe no stands but it would be cool to have an open walkway/plaza type area connecting the N/S stands.

Let's get rid of section GG completely. What good is a CLEMSON tradition anyway? While we are at it we could get some chrome hats and black unis with a new logo. I'm getting tired of seeing that silly paw on t.v. every day.
The only thing we need to change is noon ball games! Imo

It is beyond me how anyone can suggest changing the Hill

Who could even think that is a good idea? Maybe we could have a "special" section for those folks. Being able to look down into the valley from that side is priceless, so is the view out to campus. We have the ability to add another deck to the WEZ.

Honestly it would be cool to have a slightly enclosed stadium. (I still like being about to see out from both sides and seeing the lake and campus) and I think we could probably support about 85-90 thousand seats.
The problem isn't the stadium, its the logistics to support getting that many people in and out of Clemson. I think what we have now is about as much as the infrastructure in and around Clemson can handle. Where would we put an extra 2-3000 cars? How would we get that many in and out for noon or night games?
I think the extra stress on the system take away from the gameday experience.

What about a Restaurant/bar above The Hill?

Open throughout the week, then it transforms into seating on Gameday.
Food not provided by Aramark, of course.

A restaurant was planned for The WestZone and later nixed. Not saying it won't happen, but I doubt it.

I say skip it all and just add in some partial roofing over the decks like Washington's. Would get rid of the September sun and rain... unless you're in the bottom bowl where the rain would then just roll off onto them lol

No - the fact that basically all our games are on TV........

now keeps demand within what DV seats now except for 2-3 games a year.
It can't hurt to do this - just not sure if the demand for extra seats is really there.

I'd prefer seat backs across lower bowl.. as one user said, were only completely full for a few games otherwise upper is somewhat empty. Rather sit comfy at all the games since I attend them. Not sure what seat attrition is if they do that.

Leave it alone. I agree with most who have said the demand is rarely there.
I do agree to get rid of the noon games.

Second level of The WestZone - already planned.

Leave The Hill alone. If you cover it - grass won't grow.
The road would need to be blocked and you would have to rework the Scroll of Honor Memorial Park - which isn't happening/

They already took out the trees....
You can probably squeeze more out of the West Zone by building it up.

The west end zone was already planned for a second level like the first. High dollar seats. I say just do that and go ahead with the bigger scoreboard.
