Seems like something that should have stayed in house.
We don't need people spreading rumors about unconfirmed things. Unfortunately sports reporting these days is all about getting your name out there with a supposed scoop.

if any of the rumors are true, basically decided to stay because of money. Not ALL IN if you ask me. Another reason the NIL and portal are killing college football.

From what I heard it was a go but after talking with the coaches he decided to return. NIL money involved as well. Not like someone just pulled the story out of mid air.
The writer I mentioned yesterday already had an article written to put out after he announced. So it surprised him in a good way that he had a change of heart.
Everything gets leaked now a days. In house seems to be a thing of the past.

same for yesterday and the NIL story today. So not saying it's true or not, I don't know. But saying it's possible it's the same source twice, being wrong.

report about our program. You have no idea if it's true or not. Neither do I. Then on top of that several of you want us to be all in on the portal and all in on nil. But if it's true we found a better deal for NIL for him to stay, then you want to say he should have been all in and not stay due to nil. It's circular logic and there is no way to please some of you. You have zero clue if he fabricated it or not, nor do I. And I'm not saying entirely fabricated, but he may just have bad information.

what are you talking about? yes there are multiple people on the board and many of those have different opinions. I have no idea why you are trying to lump everyone together as either for or against.
I have no problem with finding an NIL deal for a player. I think its great if they did that.
I think Dabo has messed up not using the portal. We have lost several players in the secondary over the last couple of years and replaced with it with nothing. Now we are having to play players out of position and lack depth at that position.
We continue to lose depth to the portal and replace it with more HS seniors. That approach to maintaining a strong program is not going to work.

Mafah was planning on leaving. Clemson NIL worked to ensure that did not happen.
The pumpers are trying to discredit the kid who had accurate info.
But go tell yourself what you need to believe.
It BS how people on the board are trying to undermine the kids info. Bunch of cult nut bags.

About? The guy who tweeted it or the friend that supposedly gave him the information? Once again unless you are an insider or best friends with Mafah you don’t know it to be true.

You didn’t know that Mafah was planning to leave Clemson.
He may have used the THREAT of leaving as negotiating leverage to get a better NIL deal.
Or not.
You got called out for stating something as fact.

It sounds like it was actually true until we pulled a stick save at the last minute.

And I bet this kind of thing is fairly common these days but somebody got wind of it and put it out for all to see. Otherwise we'd have never known, like most of the time.

I honestly doubt Childress has a clue.
Jan 4, 2023, 4:11 PM
|
|
His "source" is making things up. Nobody walked into Dabo's office demanding a better NIL deal or he was quitting. It's a save face change in the story.
Young Mr. Childress needs to learn a lesson going forward. He's not on a level of posting "sources" in his social media.
Unless Hood says it, then don't believe it.

I don't believe anything on reports from an "inside source" or a friend of a friend type stuff. Most are probably coots stirring things up.

If the whole thing is real, then the leak was probably a way to put pressure on the players NIL value. If it’s fake, it’s just a guy looking for attention.
I’ll also say, if it is real, and someone offered a player life changing money to transfer out, I think it’s pretty unfair to say the player isn’t “All In”. Life changing money is exactly that. I love my job, but if someone offers to overpay me, I’m not saying no. Feel free to hate the environment that the NIL has created in the absence of a competent governing body, but miss me with any criticism of players making personal choices regarding their financial independence. We should all be so lucky to be given that dilemma.

It was basically one radio host who does a late afternoon fill in show and quite frankly, isn't that sharp imo. All this takes are whatever the outrage flavor of the day on Twitter is.
When the transfer entry didn't happen, the immediate "Humina, humina, muh source this, muh source that" came out.
