I just witnessed a punk in a sports car blowing his horn repeatedly at an old lady who slowly crossed the road while the light turned green as she was still crossing. Is that where we are? That some punk and a $50,000 sports car blows his horn at a poor old lady taking a while just trying to cross the street.has society is really degraded to the point where we have no respect for others, even elders…

Probably the exception to the rule, but some people are so self-absorbed that they simply don't know how to be respectful.

My guess would be more like they were not brought up to be respectful.
My 80 year mother would have no problem calling me out if I was luck- most likely a slap up side my head. Thanks Mom for caring.

Have you seen any of these news videos where these kids or younger folks gang up on an older person. The ones I had seen were in the big cities aka New York. That’s a generalization but that’s the basis of the ones I have seen. Sad.

It’s a sign of the times. It ain’t the 1950’s anymore. That’s the last decade that we had somewhat more respect for others/elders. If you don’t have any respect for our country’s most vulnerable, you’re not going to respect anybody. IMO

in the day, as they say... somebody would've beat the crap out of anyone being disrespectful to an elderly person. At the very minimum, a good punch to the face. And that was the end of it... and the punk learned a good life lesson.
Nowadays of course, 14 people are recording the ### whooping with their cell phones, and the good guy would be arrested. And the punk would call some slimy lawyer, sue him, and get rewarded with $$$.

So I was cruising down Liberty St in Savannah yesterday and some old bat around my age on a bicycle drove through a stop sign on Bull Street causing me to slam on my brakes. You can imagine my annoyance considering the importance of my time and lifestyle being interrupted like that. So I behaved as well as could be expected letting her continue with no blowing of horns (this time) and only a grimace of disgust.
It's getting better all the time. Go Tigers!
