Something I did not know until I was yesterday years old:

Jun 11, 2021, 1:08 PM

The MASH theme song was co-written by Johnny Mandel (music) and Mike Altman (lyrics). Director Robert Altman was attempting to write stupid lyrics for the suicide/last supper scene. He didn't think his lyrics were stupid enough so he gave the task to his 14 year old son Mike. Mike wrote the lyrics in minutes and Robert sent them to Mandel for music. The end result was so good it ended up as the theme music for both the movie and TV show. Robert Altman earned $70k for directing the movie and his son Mike made over a million dollars off the song royalties for lyrics to a song most known as an instrumental.

I’ve listened to the song and there’s just nothing there.

I get the feeling like his story may be untrue. My theory, as Detective Murdaugh, is that he wrote the song trying to sound deep and meaningful about suicide. He thought it would be great, maybe even bring some to tears. But then he listened to it and decided he better blame that on a 14 year old. Then he threw in the descriptive word “stupid”, during his fairytale version of events, regarding the lyrics, before realizing that he was now throwing shade on his innocent son.

True. Like Showgirls with Elizabeth Berkley started as a drama till its first screening. Then it was repackaged as a comedy.
