I said this early May... but if talks have been going on for months and we've reached already reached an agreement in principle...
Makes it more plausible that Clemson throws the kind of money we did at Morris and Venables, huh.
The deals of the Big 12 contract was already leaking out months ago...
and here's a nuggett..
jaws will drop at the renegotiated contract for the Big XII with 14 teams.

let's get something straight, $17mil/year is nothing to sneeze at, it's just not what other 'football' conferences are looking to make very shortly.
so, it's not like cu is hurting at the moment, if anything happens it's to not get left behind 5-10 years down the road.

Plus.... I think the SEC and Big XII are essentially working together to destroy the ACC and create the 4 super conferences....
makes sense...
SEC to Big XII - you guys go after FSU/Clem/GT/Miami. We want VT and NCST.

from cu and maybe a bit different from recent moves, but cu had sunk big dollars into building up our facilities. this has been going on for years. you don't attract venables or morris to come half way across the country if you don't have something to sell.
most of those dollars, including bowden's payout, are behind cu. swinney said 3 years ago he wasn't looking to be the highest paid hc, but he was looking to have a high paid staff, extensive staff.
i see it more of tdp and clemson honoring their commitment to the football program.
the framptom/advisory board move was interesting, the timing with all of this included, makes it even moreso i think.
framptom comes alive if cu to the Big12ish...

but everybody also knows that on any given saturday clemson,fsu,miami,va.tech,ga.tech,unc,nc state and even bc(these more so than the others) can play with anyone in the country when they are playing good.no, these teams don't show up every game,but when they do,they have the talent to give any team in the country a run for their money.

Their BS line to recruits is "We are playing in the SEC. Clemson is in the ACC. That's a ### basketball conference and they have no shot at a NC."
If and when we move to the B12 that crap will end. With that and the heart attack that will kill the ole ball sack they will be fighting it out in the SEC cellar with UK and Vandy again.

i am a coot and i want clemson to go to big 12. clemson needs to be in a football conference. yes, if clemson is left in acc it may make it easier on usc. still it wouldnt be good for the rivalry or college football. if power is gonna get consolidated to 64 teams clemson should be one. there are not 64 schools or fanbases who care more about football than clemson. plus, we will still eventually make more money so its not like clemson going to big 12 is some death knell for us. i would like to have a good, exciting rivalry that matters. for that to happen clemson needs to get out of acc soon.
