Respect for DW but no respect for the kicker

In practice . Wasn't like he had injury where he was untouched. He was rolled up on.
Bad coaching, hate to say it. We all can get better , players, coaches fans, and head coach

Yes, you certainly have much room for improvement.

No way you can blame a freak accident on the coaches. Even DW4 practiced in simulated pressure situations. That's what happened to Huegel. These guys only get "ice water in their veins", if practice has some level of intensity to it. It's just a freak accident that can no way be blamed on the coaching staff.

A freak accident that can in no way be blamed on the coaches? It certainly can. The injury doesn't happen in a no rush or more controlled rush situation.
I agree with you that they are doing the right thing by creating intense situations in practice, but there is a level of risk you take in doing that. That is a coaching decision, and the good and bad outcomes rightfully trace back to the coaches.

Well, heck, let's just fire the coaches, they obviously don't know what they are doing. Obviously.

My point must have been unclear. Here's a retry. I like our coaches. They are good. A good call can go bad sometimes.

We should just wipe the slate clean and hire a new staff. We have wasted enough time on these jokers who obviously don't know what they are doing, I mean it isn't like they ever got us to a championship of any kind....oh, wait.

There's a level of risk every time you get out of the bed in the morning.

These guys are practicing to win football games. Are they supposed to just stand in the field and imagine what they will do on game day? Yes there is a level of risk involved by simulating rushers, but that could be said of any kick that Huegel takes. What next? Don't let him practice kicking because of the potential ankle injury he could suffer during a kick? They were not simulating tackling and there is supposed to be no contact with the kicker during field goal attempts. Accidental contact could happen at anytime.
This is not the coaches fault.
It is an unfortunate injury that comes from practicing and playing football.

DW4 broke his collarbone in a practice freshman year. Freak accident. Still feel the same way from your original post?

Practice how you play. It sucks but injuries happen. How are they supposed to work on potentially blocking a FG or prevent a kick from getting blocked if they go half arsed all the time?

Perhaps you use your backup kicker and let the kick block team tee off on him?
Yeah, s**t happens. Get that. But like the different colored jerseys for QBs....

If he would make his kicks in the games they wouldn't have been pressuring him like that in practice. He's missed two kicks this year already that you could argue came with a little pressure. It was only a matter of time when he had one with maybe the game on the line. Dabo likes to be prepared. Now the guy that blew him up should still be running.

2 things:
1. They practice that same live 2 minute drill every Wednesday so this was no something that was brand new
2. Nobody blew up Greg and hurt him. The guy came off the edge and inadvertently hit the kicker. That happens in football. Freak injury but it is not the guy who tried to block the kicks fault. It’s football injuries happen. He was doing what he was coached to do

clemzen you have posted the most ridiculous post ever. It is said that Christian Wilkins is the one who rolled on him. I suppose along with getting rid of the staff you want to yank his scholly and kick him out of school too.

Do you think we try to tackle the kicker in drills? Special Jersey or not, a defender can roll into a player any time. You're just not always in control on your body. To imply that this injury was the result of the coaches not respecting the kickers is out of line.

This is ridiculous. It's football. Are they not supposed to work on blocking kicks? It was an accident. It's not as if they care less for kickers that DW.
