“ This was our year. The media hype. The heisman front runner. The blue chip receiver class. The next Jadaveon clowney. Pre season ranked top 15. All these hype pieces failed, and will likely not be here next year.

And here we are. We will be 4-7, or worse, in route to the the backyard I’m sure, some fans would find that even 4-8 would be acceptable with a win against Clemson. Is that acceptable? If you asked recruits, probably not. I’m sure we will see the results of our poor efforts on both national signing day and in

The pain, as a fan, is worse than some of the lowest lows we’ve seen with worse seasons. Vanderbilt is going to the playoff. Why not us? What went wrong? Indiana is going to the playoff for the second year in a row, after barely holding a roster for the last 40 years. What happened? Where did we go wrong? Why do we deserve this punishment? Many of these questions will go unanswered and maybe there isn’t an answer for them.

I’ve been there for the ups and downs of this program. I’m a gamecock for life. But how did we get here? We are in a rock and a hard place. Fire Beamer, and we’re likely set back another 5 years, bc clearly we cannot hire a winner (unless they are past their prime I.e. Spurrier). Keep Shane, and we are likely 2-3 years from achieving the hype we came into this year with after a disaster of a season.

This is a tragic ending. What happens next? No idea. Is it likely to get better in the short term? Doubtful. Will I always be a gamecock? Absolutely. But when does it end? At some point, the story needs to be rewritten. Our state, fans, program, university, etc offers so much. It’s been our turn. We need dramatic action amongst the athletic department to turn this around.”
