Greenville/Clemson for ACC conference championships

Should be part of the “concessions” the acc is making to Clemson to help us generate additional revenue. Softball should straight up be in Clemson and baseball/basketball in Greenville. I’d support FSU getting similar treatment for Tallahassee.

how does that help Clemson generate more revenue?

May 26, 2023, 2:20 PM

it helps the businesses, sure, but doesn't add anything to university pocket.

Also, none of the facilities in Greenville are big enough for baseball or basketball tourney host.

I think softball is on campus so imagine we would get to host at some point in the not so distant future as long as there aren't minimum hotel room requirements, etc that Clemson doesn't meet

Greensboro is bigger than Greenville but are the filling all those seats? Hotels within proximity of Clemson/Greenville certainly has enough capacity. We bring 60k to town every Saturday in the fall and probably 20k of that are consuming hotels. Most hotels have 120 rooms so 20 hotels is over 20k rooms and 40k with double occupancy.

As far as revenue goes, it’s a little indirect but helps the businesses which helps NIL. Travel cost for Clemson is reduced, which helps ebitda/cash.

for Greensboro vs Greenville I assume you are talking

basketball. Greensboro -22K capacity Greenville 15K. And yes Greensboro has always drawn well. But even Greensboro is not on the list to host in the future and they've announced like the next 10 years.

For baseball, capacities are 40% more in Charlotte, Durham than Greenville. The attendance they are getting for the entire tourney's is more than Greenville is capable of on avg.

Sorry buddy but you’re an idiot. Greenville just hosted an NCAA basketball Tournament

Along with a Women’s NCAA tournament and SEC Championship.

Women’s???? ….. no one was talking about that with

Regard to basketball. The men’s tournament is not coming to Gville for the men’s ACCT basketball- it doesn’t meet the criteria for being big enough. men’s ncaa 1st and 2nd - sure - that is a smaller gig than the ACCT criteria for capacity is lower.

If I remember correctly the baseball tourney was scheduled for 3 years in Myrtle Beach at the Pelicans stadium around 2010 but was pulled.
