my God have mercy. It is hard to fathom that slavery was law in this country ever. It has been sugar-coated when it was actually as bad as the holicost except that it went on for 300 years. I am not black in case you are wondering. I find it unimaginable that it was as recent as 149 years ago. So sad and unbelievable that any person in history that participated in that can be looked back as anything but what they were.

H-Wood can bend any true story to its liking.
My belief is that just like in real life there are good people and bad people. And not all slave owners were just the Bad people.

So they didn't really bend it as much as they liked.
And if you watched the movie, there were good slave owners in it.

yeah, that agenda to make money selling entertainment.
But like you say, it is all an elaborate hoax to re-write history and control our thoughts, just like science, evolution, and facts.

you are right, it was no big deal. 60 million died under slavery vs the 6 million that were worked to death during the holocaust.
and they did not have ovens that big, instead you were raked under a hot bed of coals while your family watched. This drastically improved worker efficiency.

don't you? Guess not....in fact many New York politicians and landowners in 1860-61 did not want to end slavery. Read a little other than elitist libtard history.
Try reading April 1865 if you want a real perspective

I am well aware of this, and I have a tough time understanding how this is a liberal/ conservative issue. What I am merely refuting your narrative that is was not all so bad, slaves would have been worse off in africa, Hollywood distorts the issue, blah blah blah.
But if you do want to make this a north/ south, conservative/ liberal issue, it is like anything else. People in the south are the most stubborn to change, even when the most deplorable of acts is staring them right in them face. But from your perspective, hind site is 20-40, because things were not all that bad and northerners had slaves too.

First, nowhere in my comments have I defended slavery or given belief that it was anything but horrible. You arrogant yankees think you know everything but you are nothing but loudmouth blowhards. Nowhere did I say this was a conservative/liberal issue. And if you do not think Hollywood distorts stories and history for its own gain, you are also more stupid than I thought.
I challenge you to read April 1865. It is not a conservative writing.

What bias is Hollywood pushing? Is there still a fight for free Kansas? I thought the slavery question was settled a long time ago.

the worst part of slavery.
People in America hear the word "slavery" and default to its most despicable aspects without acknowledging that most slaves weren't treated in the worst possible manner. After all, it doesn't make sense to pay the expense for a slave only to injure them to the point that they can't perform the tasks you paid money to have performed. That would be like buying a car and deliberately taking a sledge hammer to the radiator when you get mad at it.
What also gets lost is the simple fact that slavery wasn't strictly born out of racism. Many, if not most, of slaves brought to other parts of the world from Africa were either already enslaved or pretty low on the totem pole in their respective African societies. In other words, blacks sold blacks to whites.
All of that said, focusing on the worst parts of slavery is ultimately what brought slavery to an end. So ignoring the realities of slaves that were treated well or even indifferent is kind of justified considering the indescribable living conditions of those who weren't so lucky.
