Can we take a second and talk about how crazy it is

that the wife of a Supreme Court Justice is a full blown Qanon believer? This isn't "Sure Biden won but there were some irregularities" gullible but "living in barges off GITMO to face military tribunals" cray cray. Like I get how some farmer who gets all her news from Crowder and 4chan can get sucked down that rabbit hole, but she literally interacts with people on a daily basis that could tell her how wrong she is. Granted, she basically joined a cult in the 80s so maybe I shouldn't be surprised.

It is crazy. I think all scotus member’s and their family’s phone records for the past 10 years should be released to the public. Let’s see what’s in there.

You really don't want that. Check out who called who during Citizens United alone and I suspect you'd not only have to clear the bench, you'd have most of America howling to launch them into the sun.

it gets crazier

https://www.nytimes.com/2022/03/24/us/politics/ginni-thomas-trump-mark-meadows.html
In one message sent in the days after the election, she urged the chief of staff, Mark Meadows, to “release the Kraken and save us from the left taking America down,” invoking a slogan popular on the right that refers to a web of conspiracy theories that Trump supporters believed would overturn the election.

"It’s long been clear there is one set of rules for liberal Democrats and another for conservative Republicans. While Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson promised this week to recuse herself from a case involving Harvard University if she’s confirmed to the Supreme Court (she’s on one of several Harvard governing boards), Justice Clarence Thomas has for months been ruling on issues relating to Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election and the January 6 coup attempt—even though it’s been known that his wing nut wife was involved in planning both."
Man, oh man. If that's not objective journalism, they simply don't make it. The only truthful sentence in the opening paragraph was the first: There certainly IS one set of rules for Democrats and another for conservative Republicans, only not the way implied.

that is why linked the NY Times

version of the story, After I read the other I agree, it is shiddy writing.
But the fact remains that the wife of a supreme court justice should not be interacting with members of the president's family, or his chief of staff with texts that on the surface, appear as though she is aiding and ecouraging the overturning an election. And that is really just a small sample of these two, Thomas has gotten himself wrapped up in all sorts of conflicts of interest that he should know good and well to steer clear of, like attending conservative fundraisers, attending private parties with Billionaires, weeks before the citizen's united ruling, and allowing his wife to be lavished in gifts while she spouts crazy nonsense. They should know better, but it is like they do not care, this has all been out in the open.

Sorry, but not one of you posting has any room to say anything about perception of conflict of interest.
The perceived and real COIs on the left outnumber those on the right by an order of magnitude.
I have never heard about Thomas' wife until this thread, but agree it sounds super shady. Maybe she's just a nut case and Mr. Thomas can't keep the lid on her. Whatever, though, while this is not great optics it probably has not led to any legit corruption, etc.
Unlike AG Lynch meeting with Bill Clinton days before Comey made his remarkable speech about Hillary Clinton's use of a DIY email server and emailing classified information over an unclassified network.
Unlike Peter Strzok, a high-level FBI official investigating Trump, exchanging texts with his FBI attorney mistress about how he would make sure Trump did not become president.
And the list goes on farther than anyone will read...

OK, imagine all the liberal judges getting together with Bill Gates and Warren Buffet at exclusive parties and retreats, their husbands and wives receiving gifts, then two weeks later these same judges upheld controversial legislation that heavily favored the above, you would not see a conflict of interest? There is no reason for federal, let alone Supreme court justices to be palling around with billionaires, if you do not see the problem here, well, there are probably a lot of things you do not understand.
