I can see why people give up on using them, but I'm going to try to get used to it and see how it goes. My sleep score was pretty good, but I don't feel like I slept a lot because I was messing with the mask all night. Not giving up yet...

move your trashcan and see how long it takes to get adjusted.
Good luck, hope it works out.

Last night was my 6th and I think I’m already addicted to mine.
Night 2 was rough for me. The humidity setting was off and I woke up to gurgling sounds from water in the hose and confused about what was on my face. Since then it has been great.
Do you have a beard? That can probably mess with the fit and feel. I don’t and one thing I did was shift from shaving in the morning to right before bed so the mask doesn’t irritate my stubble.
Don’t hesitate to ask for different masks until you find one that works.
As I said, I already don’t know what I would do if they took it away from me. I haven’t started losing weight, gotten rich or good looking, or developed a winning personality yet but I’m sure that takes time.

I do have a beard, but I am getting a good seal. I am a mouth breather at night so I have to be in the full mask until I can break that habit and then hopefully move to the nasal pillow mask.
Luckily, I got mine through the VA and their sleep clinic is walk-in so I can get supplies and/or try new masks until I get what works best.

You can purchase a mouth shield that will help keep your mouth closed. They're pretty cheap and yet still effective.
The may not notice improved sleep for a while, but the first time dozed off without my cpap after using it for a while, I really noticed what a difference it makes. Sleeping without it is now almost impossible.

prevents healthy sleep habits and conditions.
I dropped from 278 lbs to 215, God delivered me from beer and Xanax and I moved the noisy streets of Greenville to the Heavenly quite of Memaw's refuge on top Dayton Mountain. Getting on top of Memaw didn't hurt either.
I slept from 10 pm to 7:30 am last night or as we 73 year olds call it, 'three pisses and two soul wrenching snores.

Dunno your situation but Medicare will reclaim the ### thing if ya don't use it a certain number of nights during the first year or so. Had mine 2.5 years now and they can't take it back for non use. I got it for "pulmonary hypertension"/sleep apnea. Ain't modern medicine great?

The VA doesnt require any minimum usage

but obviously they want people to use them as much as possible when they give them to them. I think the only people who have a usage requirement through VA are people that would have DOT physicals, etc for their jobs.

I was very frustrated for the first week. Give it time. You will adjust and get the feel right. You’ll be having amazing sleep and better days soon.
