So Ukraine has gotten predictably political,

And I certainly got caught up in that today, but pictures like this lady after an air strike make me remember that behind all of this, and bearing the brunt of it (as they always seem to do) are common folk just trying to live a decent life. Please pray for these folks if you’re so inclined. The world really shouldn’t work this way, yet here we are.

My Dad (Korean war vet) always told me as a kid: "If the people who started wars had to be the ones crawling in the mud doing the dirty work there wouldn't be many wars". After having done a couple of combat tours myself I concur with his sentiment...

Thank you for your service to our country. I'm a veteran but was never in combat, but had lots of friends who were in the thick of it. None of them relished their time taking lives, seeing buddies lose theirs or shedding their own blood. Witnessing the destruction war brought on civilians was very tough.
Most leaders who were personally involved in wars have been very loathe to engage in further wars. Hitler as a recipient of 2 Iron Crosses during World War I was an exception.
Bad Vladamir is another example of the fearless noncombatant putting his own people in harm's way and indifferent to the innocent people of Ukraine.
Hopefully there is a general or two with the stones to take him out before he plunges more of Europe and potentially the world into a very dark place.

people are the same everywhere. We all want and need the same things, and there is much more that binds us together than separates and divides us. Why do we need a constant cycle of conflict, war and peace to keep reminding us of that? Human life itself, and individual rights and freedoms are important and must be respected everywhere. That shouldn't be political. The kind of violent aggression we are seeing from Putin right now is the worst kind of evil, and it is inexcusable on any level or in any arena.

I hope I don't get to the point of cynicism where I assume every pic of a person who appears to be in pain is an actor, but I also understand it if you're there already.

not saying this isn’t a #### show. I am just saying that when there are two pictures circulating around the globe, it makes me pause. I get it, I really do and I am not trying to be a jerk, it’s just the fact that two pics and a guy leaving his daughter is basically our story telling.
That video of the dad leaving his daughter happens nearly every moment on the globe, but yet THIS ONE is the one we have to pay full attention.
