I had an experience with a cougar during my sophomore year at Clemson, around 1994. It was not offensive.

We have a bobcat currently in my neighborhood. One night I was letting the dogs out before bed, and up in a big tree above my head in our back yard I heard that unmistakable "rowwwwrrrrr" sound they make. I haven't moved that fast in at least 20 years.

at dark. And this loud scream started up (first two seconds kind of like an ambulance but man made) and then it transitioned to something more recognizable (an owl).
I thought old Slac Tiger lived on the lake for a minute.

I caught this one outside my kitchen window last week around dusk, scouting the chipmunk superhighway.
How did the CU prof not know that?

Dat's a bobcat for sure.
McLovin were you at Riverbanks Zoo in '95?
Messing with you. It is conceivable based on some of the incredibly long rambles of some pumas that one or more has ventured briefly into SC.

You have formally proven your lack of being confused with Carolineas rubrum collum, a ubiquitous species often found in the woods and waters throughout our state.
Bubba woulda shot that critter and took a bunch of pics and then worried over the animal's identification much later.

It seems every southern conservation department swears that they do not, could not, and never would reside in their jurisdiction. Yet there are a lot of experienced outdoorsman who have seen them. I tend to side with the outdoorsmen.

you're siding with the same people who, telling the story over long periods of time, miraculously grow the 5 lb. 16-inch largemouth bass they caught into a 25 lb. 40-inch monster?

Is that Fat Carol, still reading the news on Channel 4? She was there when I moved away, 'bout thirty-five years ago.
