So, if all the current CFP Top 4 keep winning, except for

Nov 9, 2022, 5:40 PM

the loser of Michigan-Ohio State, who would STILL only have one very good loss, why do the ESPiN Heads just automatically assume an SEC team jumps that very good one loss Big Ten team?

That answer is wickedly easy. That will be the overwhelming narrative on ESPN, because THEY own the SEC Network, and by extension, the SEC. The Big Ten Network, on the other hand, is owned by that interloper of a network, FOX.

Now, FOX is certainly a four letter word around ESPN. I have not ever really watched FOX college football Saturday show, but if the season actually winds down with Georgia, TCU, and one of Ohio State and Michigan unbeaten, and the other unbeaten going into their game, I will, just to get the exact reverse slant than what ESPN will bring to bear.

Ah, Corporate subterfuge. You gotta marvel at "unbiased" sports reporting in Amurica these days, which actually went the way of the Dodo a long time ago.

ESPN does get a vote so are you trying to say the Committee that does vote, including College ADs are bought by ESPN? Do you really believe the AD at The Naval Academy, for one, would do that? Sounds like fake news to me.

No, I am telling you what the overwhelming ESPN narrative

on Gameday, and every other show they do about college football will be. And that will be that the one loss Tennessee took at the hands of the mighty Georgia is somehow better than the one loss the loser of Michigan-Ohio State took at the hands of the winner.

Now, there is still a LONG way to go, and teams may stumble. My scenario was built around nobody stumbling. Then, you have a dead on SEC vs Big Ten argument, with the respective owners of those networks arguing like mad for their "constituents".

As Homer Stokes said in "O Brother Where Art Thou", "Is you is, or is you ain't, my constituency?"

There will likely be multiple 1 loss conf champs

with better resumes than Michigan if they lose. Their schedule was bad. Michigan’s only hope is to beat OSU or Pac-12 , ACC and B12 champ have 2 losses or more

If you compare Tenn to the Ohio St and Michigan loser, Tenn would have the better loss and better wins. Tenn has the best loss to #1 UGA. Tenn has wins against #7, #9 and #24. If Michigan loses, the loss would be to the #2 team. Michigan has wins against #14 and #21. If Ohio St loses, the loss would be to the #3 team. Ohio St has wins against #14 and #20.

What Should happen, but won't, is any 1 loss conference champ

Nov 9, 2022, 11:32 PM [ in reply to Re: So, if all the current CFP Top 4 keep winning, except for ]

should be ranked ahead of a team like Tennessee, that won't be a conference champ. A conference championship should mean something!

It will and they won't come the final ranking but right now

Nov 11, 2022, 4:15 PM

no one has a conf championship so UT is sitting there but will be passed by other 1 loss champs just like the committee has done before - it does mean something to the committee despite what the media and talking heads try to make you believe

I read that Michigan has a very week schedule

Nov 11, 2022, 4:18 PM

If they lose to Ohio St then they will not have beat anyone with a winning record.

I don't think it is a conspiracy like you have implied.
