Yeah, but stepping stones are there to get you where you want to be...
Curious if folks think he left the program better off than when he found it?

There is no room for reasonable minds to differ, Clemson football progressed under Bowden. He gave us some great games and pointed the program in the right direction. I liked Bowden when he was here and still appreciate what he accomplished. I wish for him and us he could have enjoyed the success we are enjoying now.
As for his prognostications, don't forget that he is in a no win situation, but his credibility is less likely challenged if he does not appear to favor us too greatly.

...but I think it's distasteful to bash any of our past coaches.
Move on and find something to be grateful for.

years. Had this guy been athletic director Coach Swinney would have been fired before he was hired, and he did nothing but bash Swinney and staff until about a year ago.
I remember stuff like that.

he still ####### and moans all the time. Even went as far to say that he wouldn't care if Clemson closed it's doors.

is no longer with the program. Others will rue the day he departed.
I believe the wiser among us will find the silver linings within his program, thank him for his efforts, concentrate on our efforts at hand...and offer respect without trying to arouse controversy by letting sleeping dogs lie, so to speak.

Bowden is responsible for a lot of the facilities that Dabo is now enjoying.
The WEZ project was largely his doing.
When Bowden arrived at Clemson our facilities were in BAD shape. He is responsible for getting the ball rolling in the right direction for fixing that major problem.

You can be grateful for what he did and still be glad he's not our coach anymore. I'm glad Frank Howard is no longer our coach because being coached by a dead guy would be weird.

Honestly, I cannot stand to see him on TV especially when providing commentary on Clemson. He is smug and has no intention of giving credit where credit is due. To me, it looks like he holds a grudge again us. Having said that, I can now look back on the days of Bowden at Clemson and realize the delusion/false hopes he provided as a coach. It was under his reign that we really did have huge wins followed by let downs. He never could deliver fully and it was during that time that the Clemson fan bases' confidence really began to slip, in my opinion. I'm not saying it had not slipped prior during the 90's, but I feel like it reached its peak during the Bowden years. However, that confidence is now coming back, but the thing is, we actually have real talent and real coaching to back it up now. It's a GREAT time to be a Tiger!!!
