at this point all signs seem to point to it being hijacked and landed at some other unknown location. The concern (other than for the safety of the passangers) is that it will now be filled with explosives and use as a weapon.

the story yesterday made the most sense I've seen...

Plane developed trouble, possibly a fire.
Pilot veered left, backtracking to the closest air field.
Fire got into the electricals, cutting power.
Plane crashed in the ocean, far away from where they originally were looking for debris.

before the co pilot came on and said "all right good night"
If that is the case then the fire theory does not hold water.
Also, if there is a fire that caused that much electrical problems to shut everything off, the plane wouldn't be able to fly an additonal 7 hours.
I personally think that plane was carrying somebody or something that somebody wanted and the plane was hijacked and has landed somewhere.

Definitely more questions than answers at this point
Mar 19, 2014, 2:33 PM
|
|
Some less sophisticated radar systems do have blind spots, and it is possible to fly at lower altitudes to avoid being detected.
It certainly is possible to fly through the mountains in that part of the world and not be visible on radar. Also, in some parts of the world, radar systems aren't as closely watched as other radar systems.
An experienced pilot could certainly plot out all the known radar locations and could fairly easily determine where the radar blind spots were.
It is effectively the same thing the US Navy Seal team did when they flew into Pakistan to go after Osama bin Laden.
That said, it would be alot more difficut to fly such a large aircraft so close to the ground over a long period of time compared to a couple of military attack helicopters.

pretty well-respected former General floated last night

the idea that it followed a flight from Singapore that was headed to Spain. Basically said they "tailed" it and landed in Pakistan. If the transponders were off, they would not have known they were behind them.
General McInerny was also convinced the plane was in Pakistan. He alluded to a report from Boeing that stated Boeing believed it was in Pakistan.
It made sense, considering Israel raising their alert level, and the fact that we have the most resources in that region.
I find it hard to believe that we don't know where it is, even if we're not saying it.

one "dot" on the radar...
something else giving it credence is that, as far as we know, they only disabled the transponders and navigation communicators... not their in flight communications, such as their radios.
To me, that says they were likely communicating with somebody.

Read a pretty good article yesterday
Mar 19, 2014, 1:21 PM

A pilot argued that the most likely occurrence that matched the most known facts was a catastrophic fire which harmed the plane before it was discovered by the pilots.
This article has a pretty good theory which doesn't require the insertion of nefarious forces: http://www.wired.com/autopia/2014/03/mh370-electrical-fire/?

Only issue with that theory now...
Mar 19, 2014, 1:32 PM
[ in reply to Read a pretty good article yesterday ] |

is that per NBC sources, the computer input to change the course was made 12 minutes before the pilot made his famous "All right. Good night" sign off.
If the change in course was due to a fire or other system failure which was capable of incapacitating the crew, why no mention of it by the pilot?
This whole thing is bizarre.
I don't buy the "it landed" thing either. They would have had to avoid a multitude of radars, presumably by flying low, which would have killed their mileage.

fly behind a jet from Singapore that was headed to Spain. The theory is the Malaysion flight landed in Pakistan. If the transponder was shut off, the plane they were tailing would not have known they were there.
Also, they only disabled the navigation detectors (transponders), not any communication equipment or radios.
I have heard today that the belief is now that the left turn was much wider, and not as sharp as originally thought.

Pilot hijacked plane
Mar 19, 2014, 1:23 PM

landed safely somewhere to be used as a weapon at a later date.
Or
Hijacked by pilot and crashed into the ocean when it ran out of fuel.
Or
Hijacked by pilot then accidentally shot down by Chinese when they flew into their airspace with the transponder off
Or
Landed safely on moon

Here's a new one----pilots turned off transponders, hung a U-turn---bailed out somehow over Malasia with plane on auto--plane ran out of fuel over ocean and crashed---pilots collect insurance money and live happily ever after. Kind of a pilot induced J. B. Cooper thing! Hey--would make a good TV show anyway!

The biggest questions in my mind are;
Mar 19, 2014, 1:38 PM
|
|
why were there no phone calls made from the passengers? It's apparent that the plane flew for another 7-8 hours after the transponders were switched off, so why did none of the people on board send a text or try to call or email someone?
If it's a hijacking, which seems like the leading theory, how did the hijackers manage to get everyone's phones before at least someone attempting contact with a loved one? If the pilot hijacked it and climbed to an altitude that would render the passengers unconscious, did he have an accomplice to help gather phones from the 200+ people? How did he/they stay conscious, pre planned oxygen tanks on board? What about the stewardess'?

If the flight was "normal" to the passengers and everything was running smoothly until the rise to 45,000 feet there's no reason to call. They may have depressurized and been knocked out or worse then with loss of cabin pressure.
Phones don't work unless there is a tower to get the signal and cellphones don't work at high altitudes.

out in the middle of the ocean. But I'm sure some of the people on there had internet on the phones which is done through satellites, right? Would there be any difficulty with emails in the middle of the ocean?
So it seems like the passengers would have to be incapacitated quickly and with no prior alarm, which seems like loss of cabin pressure/oxygen, etc...would the pilots have stowed air tanks on board so they wouldn't pass out then?

Had to be! Jk. I can't stand conspiracy theorist. Those moerons who say 9/11 was an inside job should fall in a well. What really grinds my gears are those who say flight 93 never happened. Yea, tell that to the families of over 200 people. Even worse, that a plane never hit the Pentagon because there's no evidence. Geez....
