Opened a new bag of bread that we got from Publix a couple days ago, and I'm all "### is this?"
Sure enough, a little chewed-through hole in the bag just below the ziptie.
This probably happens a lot more than I think. There's probably lotsa mice in grocery stores, regardless of how hard you try to keep them out. Rest of the loaf looked OK and reasonably untouched, no mouse turds in the bag/bread, so...YOLO. Besides, it's the kids eating it, not me. Mostly.

RIGHT?
I would say it was more likely to happen on the truck or warehouse from the bread distributor.

ftfy
that's why you gotta design in the rat run
a little less effective to do, and harder to manage, in an automated setting (which Publix's is)
but I thought they made their bakery stuff on site? that looks like the bakery label, so this mouse got into it from oven > bag > shelf......
or you got stuart little living in your house

No, this wasn't from the bakery at Publix, it's shipped-in branded stuff.

Bread was in the fridge, so unless that little squeaker has a winter coat and some legit cat burglar skills, probably wasn't here. But yeah, somewhere up the supply chain probably makes as much or more sense as the grocery store, so warehouse or baking facility, more likely.

No way rodents caused that if you didn't see droppings in the bread or bag.

So there is only one other explanation...Gamma Leonis space worms. The worms procreate inside loaves of bread and the worm ##### acts as an acid that disintegrates the bread ingredients. I would caution against eating the bread in the highly probable event that any of the microscopic Gamma Leonis space worm eggs were left behind. If ingested and incubated, the baby space worms could end up controlling the human subject and force said human to do their bidding until the time they mature and painfully exit the anus.

Reckon that they're the inter-galactic ones or just the regular old galactic variety?? I'm headed to the store now. I'll axe the manager what they do to prevent worm and vermin infestation.
