Dalvin Cook has done NOTHING wrong

Don't think this kid needs or deserves any bashing for changing his mind.
This is not a surprise, and the writing has been on the wall for weeks.
He was the "weakest" of all types of commits...b/c his favorite player (Spiller) went there. This is DSG-Dawkins all over again.
Kid is from the state of florida.
Family all wants him there.
Brother is at / committed to Hurricaines (bball i believe)
Didn't drag this on into the summer-fall
No drama w/ crazy moms, coaches, advisors, complex package deals
Totally the anti- RN, anti- Demarcus Robinson, anti- Mt. Adams / Lawson
Sad the kid has changed his mind, sad for him that he's decided to play for a scumbag....but Dalvin appears to have handled this the right way.
For that reason, I don't put him in the same category as the RN-Kamara- Robinson- Adams - Lawson crew.

If all that you said is true, he should have never commited. No need to get Clemson fans exited only to put us down. If your not 100% commited when when you say you are, then don't commit at all.

don't have a clue, and should not be held to the same standard, especially when so much is at stake for them. It's their lives after all.
Don't misunderstand me, like you, I wish they wouldn't commit until they are 100% certain, and ready to honor their word. I hate it when this happens, but I think it's crazy to expect much different given their age, maturity level, and pressure they are under.

The only thing he did wrong was "commit" so early to us.

He's still a junior in high school. He can't sign with anybody (truly commit) until next February. Recruiting in general is way out of hand, so I realize we don't have any choice but to offer these kids very early on, but it's crazy to expect them to stick with their "commitments". I hate to lose him, because he looks like he'll be a great one if he works hard and keeps his nose clean, but we have plenty of time to reel in another good one. This is no last minute shocker that leaves us scrambling; in fact, I'm almost certain Dabo and the coaches have been anticipating this and working on other RB recruits for some time.

Since when does going back on your word mean you did nothing

wrong? I don't really care if he comes here or not, but going back on your word is wrong. Don't commit if you aren't going to keep it. That's the problem with people today; your word means nothing.

we're talking about a 16 - 17 year old kid (remember he committed last summer) from a FB factory from the state of florida with family all in his ear, his only link to us was loving CJ spiller
was almost impossible to think we were going to make it thru his recruiting without something happening
most of us are double-triple his age and hardly ANY of us have been in his shoes...
so b/c he didn't dramatize this, i dont' think we can hold him responsible for changing his mind

moment and he really, truly meant it. He wanted to play football at Clemson and spend 4-5 years of his life there. Florida wasn't really in the picture at that point. I think it was a mistake for him to "commit" so early, so in the sense that it was a mistake, it was wrong, but there was no moral failure on his part for doing so.
Since then his situation has changed quite a bit. Now Florida has offered; his "home team", if you will. He has had a chance to see the campus and the facilities, meet the coaches and the players; he likes it and now realizes his mistake in committing to Clemson so early. Clemson has plenty of time to get another RB. It doesn't appear he was trying to play us. I don't see how he's done anything wrong by changing his mind, not at this stage.

Going back on your word is a moral failure

Justify it however you would like. If in his heart he always wanted to play for Florida then don't commit to Clemson. Whatever his reasoning for decommiting, going back on your word is wrong PERIOD. Sure, things change. That doesn't somehow mean its right to go back on your word. Maybe he did make a mistake in committing early and going to Florida is going to be what's best for him, but that mistake is still a wrong.

NSD is a long way off. Coaches change job or fired, players changes mind two or three times if not more and end up back to where he started. It happens every year. maybe gone, maybe not, sometime you win, sometime you lose, sorry it just part of the game and it will never change. Look back on some of the choices we made as teenagers. ??? Not surprising is it. Don't sweat it. Our leaders of this state and country does it all the time. These kids live in this moment to, so changing their mind on the spur of the moment is no big deal to them. part this present life.

did you ever change your mind about anything when you were 16? i had trouble keeping up with a pencil and getting to a class. i am sure he doesnt feel like you he committed treason or hurt national security. if you have a 16 year old you may appreciate his position better. i think you and i should give him a pass and get off the moral high ground becuase we want a good running back at clemson. jmho.

Sure, he is young and young people make mistakes. But the point is he did do something wrong; he made a mistake. So the contention he did nothing wrong is incorrect.

is he lied. I'm not talking about withdrawing from his commitment. I can understand a kid changing his mind. I'm talking about saying he wasn't taking any visits and then a few days later going to Florida. Then stating that he was still 100% committed to Clemson when he was going back to Florida for their spring game, knowing he was going to commit to them.
Also, he was talking with media about his flip and admitted that he had not contacted the Clemson coaches.
All of that.... I have a problem with. Even if he is just a kid.
Disappointed that we lost him?... Sure. Disappointed in Dalvin as a person?... Yeah, that too. I thought he was better than that.
