Since that terrible night against WVU!

Dabo has brought in coaches, players, and facilities while leading us to a 63-9 record. Only 9 losses since the WVU loss!!! Think about that! In that time we have seen talented players like Boyd, Watkins, Nuk, Martavis Bryant, Peale, Step Anthony, Tony Steward, Grady, Beasley, TJ Green, Kearney, Alexander, Humphries, Jaron Brown, Ellington, Dodd, Watson, Scott, Leggett, Williams, Gallman, etc. etc. pass through the system. We always wondered who would be the next Boyd or Watkins, the next Watson and Williams. Now we have learned to trust the staff. They know how to coach, recruit, and develop young boys into men.
This 63-9 record has seen us win huge games against LSU, Notre Dame, 2 games against Oklahoma, 2 against Ohio St, turned the tide back in our favor vs SC, go to back to back National Championship games, and last but not least, winning our first natty since 1981.
I used to often wonder how a team got at or near the top where they were respected and believed in on a year in year out basis. I believe wholeheartedly that Dabo has put us on the map to stay. So guys and girls, we. We need to breathe it all in, enjoy it, and never cmget complacent. I don't know if we are considered an elite team or an elite program. I just know that we are elite. From the staff, to the recruiting, to the facilities????, Dabo has made us believe in ourselves.

period between then and now, as I am sure you know. We're 30-something and 2 in the latter half. Its an amazing run, no question.
But what if we go through a period of 9-3, 8-4 for several years? I don't care. Not only are those good records, but the way Dabo does things is what we want, whatever the record. If we have a perfect storm of losing a couple of assistants, the next hires are not being exactly the right ones, and a couple of players don't come through, hey, that's life. He is not going to lose his perspective, and he is not going to forget where he is headed. Just keep doing what we are doing, being who we are.
Lets don't pull a Tenn and fire a Fulmer.

Wow. The commentators kept saying they were "ready for the Big XII!" Hmmm... guess not.

I don't understand why fans care if a program is considered 'elite' or respected. There are a lot of programs considered 'blueblood' that have struggled the past 10 years.

In addition...

If you consider all active coaches currently at any Power 5 program and have been a head coach for at least 5 years, Dabo is in the Top-6 in term of winning percentage. He's about to catch Nick Saban. (If Dabo continues to win all games, he will pass Nick Saban in term of winning percentage in just 5 games or less.)
1 Urban Meyer 0.848 2 Chris Petersen 0.824 3 Jimbo Fisher 0.813 4 David Shaw 0.774 5 Nick Saban 0.770 6 Dabo Swinney 0.767
What will impress you even more is, I believe, other than Dabo, only Nick Saban is the only coach who didn't inherit a lot when he took over a program. (Clemson wasn't that bad at the time, but it's not like where we are now.) Okay, Chris Petersen didn't have a lot when he took over Washington, but most of his wins were from Boise State.
And, now, you can hear Alabama fans start to think that Dabo should be their next head coach when Nick Saban leaves. They can all dream though.

For the record....The belief that Dabo might become the head coach at Alabama when Saban retires is much more than a slight possibility. Even those who know Dabo the best think it is very likely! Dabo is an Alabama alum. and until he became HC at Clemson, it was well known to be his dream job. His life long love of Alabama, where he grew up, makes this very plausible. I do believe that is the only job Dabo would ever even consider leaving Clemson for. I hope he would not even consider that, and loyalty is so important to him, he may not. It is a 100% chance he will be the first one offered it.

We have short memories....in 2010 after a dis-appointing 6/7 season the overwhelming majority of fans were begging for Dabo to be fired, and yes I was one of them. Only Terry Don Phillips still believed in Dabo. The vast majority of the fans believed that hiring Dabo, who had never been a head coach anywhere, was one of the stupidest moves Clemson ever made. Thankfully Clemson ignored the fan base call for Dabo Swinney's head!!! For the record, in college at Alabama he was a walk-on much like Hunter Renfrow, but with less talent! I shudder to think how close we came to him being fired, so in one respect, the 10-3 record the Tigers of 2011 had was probably the most important season at Clemson ever. If that team had not won the ACC, and had a fairly good year, Dabo would have been fired. There were many still wanted him canned because we lost our bowl game to WV 70-33!!!
