Since I was a coach in a former life I will tell you

the #1 issue is our lack of play calling.....I do not care if we need 4 offensive play callers or 1 good one but the offensive play calls have no imagination and are run over and over and over without much to show for it. Clemson always does well when we mix it up and keep defenses on their toes. I have not seen that for quite some time now. If all week needs to be spent on new plays and designs then so be it. If we can not score more than 24 points to beat a team on the road then something is wrong. I do not care who you have as QB...hand ball off or mix in some half back passes, or reverse, do something!!!

Is it possible that the playing calling is bad because someone else besides JC and TE is calling the plays? CEO is supposed to over see. We need to open it up no matter who we have at QB. We have the athletes to do it!

You're Danny Ford. Posting on TigerNet. Okay then.
Thought you lived in Clemson area and not Greenville.
Precisely why people call you out on here. You think you know it all, then get mad, or apparently lie, when folks don't like your attidute about it.

That's why I won't ever let you live this down. Because you can't say anything respectfully, instead you have to berate and insult people.
Have a real discussion with people without being so condescending for once.

Apologies to you for striper fan who knows less than a 2 year old about football and needs to spend more of his time on his sermons which I hear are dreadfully boring.

With our defense playing as poorly as they did? Play calling was just one of the many problems we had Friday night.

The play calling was a serious concern on Friday, yes. ...However, I just think they are calling plays that don't necessarily play to the strengths of our personnel...We no longer have Mike Williams, who was a phenomenal blocker for his position...Calling tunnel screen to Refrow or Deon Cain's side requiring them to block is asking for a big loss...
Another concern was why in the h#ll were they still calling zone reads with KB knowing he couldn't run??

Not sure we run more than 10-12 of the same plays a game
We've had some defensive TD's the last few games to get the final score looking different than what the offense is able to produce
And certainly nothing with pace
Unfair to compare KB to DW4, but we need to be able to challenge the defense down the field and get match ups that can be taken advantage of
WRU is rapidly becoming an afterthought
If this week is practicing much of the same, we will struggle to break mid 20's for most of the remaining games.

What happened this week was our Coaching staff got cocky and a little lazy. The thought KB would get us a lead and the D would shut them down . They thought it would be like the WF game . Instead of getting ZC and HJ ready to play , they figured we would do just enough to get by. Well the first big problem was the D was not ready to play and got man handled. It was over as soon as the Cuse knew they could move the ball.

I agree with this statement hands down. One of the things that scare me is that maybe the coaches feel we dont have the personnel to carry it out. We lost a LOT in our receiving core. DW4 could make throws combined with our receiver talent to make plays. Now we have talented runners but without a dominant offensive line, and a QB is not as accurate as DW4 it will be hard. I think the only way to have players to learn is to feed them to the playbook wolves.

IMO, The defense was playing so well- that actually became a problem for the entire offense. The coaches became so secure in the belief they would BAIL us out. We didn't feel any need to do much more. I blame our coaches for that, but... the players have to do their part too.

Agreed. And we must throw the ball in the middle and make the D defend the whole field
