Morris to Texas - Not gonna happen

No premier football program is going to "experiment" with an unproven candidate. He doesn't have the required depth of experience. He would need to first tansition through a smaller school and build on some success as a head coach for a few years.

MemphisCat said premiere program. Clemson is not quite to that level yet. We are close ,but until Daboh can win a New Years day Bowl, win more than one ACC Championship, stop getting embarrassed in national tv games and getting the monkey off of his back by beating Spurrier,Clemson will be only a good program, but not a premiere one. Just stating the facts.

and if he does it will be based on his taking a middle tier program like Clemson's and turning it around.

yes, we have heard of Dabo.
2 things:
1) he said "premiere" - which Clemson is not.
2) hiring Dabo meant we were not TRYING to be premiere, which led to a lot of blow back when he was hired.

no way in Hell is Texas going to hire a Texas A&M alumnus as their head coach. It just will not happen regardless of who that person is or what they have done professionally.

would have to turn down any interest before they would even make an offer to Morris. It's not a dig on Chad. Just a reality that Texas is the kind of school that can create a pool of interested coaches with deep resumes. And all that is left are the negotiations.
Regardless of whether you think any school is 'elite' or 'premiere', Morris' first HC job will not likely be at a school that can almost have the pick of the crowd. Not after just 3 years in the NCAA, anyway.

Neither Dabo or Chad are going to Texas.
We are not yet thought of as a "Texas, Alabama" type of program.
D and C need to learn how to beat the Chickens and stop the embarrassing losses.

You think Longhorns care what Dabo's record is

versus SCar? Like I've posted before, Dabo is on their list not for every detail of his record but for his potential. After all, he picked Chad Morris out of nowhere and took a risk on Venables that paid off. You gotta think Longhorn nation would believe he could repeat that at UT but have an even bigger pool of candidates to choose from. Who would turn down a UT coordinator spot (I'm thinking like a fan)??
And he isn't a negative risk when it comes to recruiting. He won't be the top of the list, but he surely is on it as someone who they think can be more successful with the tools and resources of Longhorn nation!!!

He's got beating the lesser teams down. Just needs to figure out how not to get rolled by teams like FSU and the Chickens. Once that happens, then we need to worry about losing him to teams like Texas.

...Morris is an Aggie. No way in hell the Texas boosters want to hand Texas A&M that kind of ammunition "Texas had to hire an Aggie to straighten out their football program". Even if they won they would have to hear it, and they would always have to fear of all fears of if A&M were to have an opening Morris would jump.
And before someone tries to play the "But they hired Darrell Royal and he was a Sooner" that is a totally different situation. Yes, both are big rivals but the Red River Rivalry is for the most like our rivalry with GT in that there is a level of respect there. Texas/A&M is our rivalry with the dirt peckers on a cocktail of steroids and meth.

I'm hearing that one scenario is James Franklin to Texas and Chad Morris to Vandy. I don't think any big time football program will go after Morris due to his lack of experience but a school like Vandy would be a great stepping stone for him.
