Nothing happened because Trump had no interest in pursuing charges. It was all a campaign tactic.
US President-elect Donald Trump will not pursue a further investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails, to help her "heal", his spokeswoman has said.
His adviser said Mr Trump would not appoint a special prosecutor to look into the former Secretary of State, as he had pledged during campaigning.
Later, Mr Trump said a fresh inquiry was not off the table, but he didn't want to "hurt the Clintons".
The FBI cleared Mrs Clinton, but criticised her private email server.
Mr Trump had threatened during his campaign to "jail" Mrs Clinton, and at rallies his supporters often chanted: "Lock her up!"
Senior Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway told MSNBC that "when the president-elect... tells you before he's even inaugurated he doesn't wish to pursue these charges, it sends a very strong message - tone and content".
"And I think Hillary Clinton still has to face the fact that a majority of Americans don't find her to be honest or trustworthy, but if Donald Trump can help her heal, then perhaps that's a good thing," she added.

which isn't true. Nothing came of it because Trump did not pursue an investigation. Maybe the destruction of the evidence would have been a factor, but you can't make that claim because there was no investigation, and there was no investigation because Trump did not pursue it.
The source is the BBC, but if you want to Google Conway's quote, I'm sure you'll find it in whatever source you feel comfortable accepting. Though, it seems highly unlikely the BBC would manufacture out of whole cloth an extremely controversial quote from a high ranking Trump official.
EDIT: The true source was Conway herself, on MSNBC:

T3 is absolutely right. Trump was a straight shooter and bucked the trend of collusion between the DOJ and the White House, and definitely did not play any roll in seeing through his very straightforward and albeit controversial wishes that Hillary not be investigated, but that completely changed when Biden took over and the DOJ went immediately back to doing the bidding of the President. Because T3 would never, EVER change his tune when the narrative suddenly doesn't support his worldview, like the idea that Trump would want to "protect the Clintons" and "help them heal."

rhetoric didn't amount to any investigation with his newly picked lapdog Sessions, it's more likely it did, than didn't. Especially if her "destruction of evidence" was so readily known that it could have been a layup conviction for the DOJ.
B) You have contradicted this sentiment in your previous exclamations about the Biden DOJ, as well as numerous times in this thread here.
We can leave it at that. You were incapable of faulting Trump for something that you yourself desperately wanted, and even I say was a mistake. As a result, you manufactured some off-the-cough justification, which then you almost immediately contradicted, and now have dug in your heels defending for some reasons unknown.
And to your question, no. I don't think there's been a truly "independent" and "unbiased" DOJ in longer than I can remember. Albert Gonzalez was a Bush lapdog. Holder was an Obama lapdog. Sessions was a Trump lapdog. And Garland is a Biden lapdog. I think the only reason we're even hearing about a Hunter Biden investigation is because even Joe knows he can't protect Hunter forever, and especially from this.

When Trump was trying to get the Justice Department to act as his own personal law firm, who did he put in charge? Bill Barr.
Who named the Russia investigation special counsel? Bill Barr.
And that special counsel determined the action of the FBI weren't political. Trump's handpicked special counsel.
But let me guess, you will say the Biden classified docs special counsel is political, right?
I can accept the determination that the FBI approached the investigation with more zeal than necessary. But the Trump campaign created red flags given his dealings and 'coziness' with Russia. The FBI would have been irresponsible to not at least look into it. Especially as Trump would make stupid off the cuff remarks about Russia. I've said it before, when you act like you are hiding something, you invite scrutiny. Trump constantly does that (see his tax issues).

He could have easily said, "Trump made a mistake in not going after Hillary," and that would have been that. Instead, he just farted out some historically inaccurate pablum about the DOJ being independent from the White House (yeah, that's the way it's supposed to be but never is) that it took mere seconds to disprove with his own words that he actually believes it. THEN, he doubles-down insinuating it wasn't a problem until Biden.
It's like we were talking about the other day...some people are just psychologically incapable of admitting they're wrong and vomit all over themselves trying to maintain the fiction. And in this case, it wasn't even admitting he was wrong, but that Trump was wrong.

The FBI could have executed Trump in New York and if the local DA and the DOJ decided not to prosecute the left wing scumbags would be here gloating that since there were no indictments there was no crime.
