Serious question at this point. How bad is T P?

I mean, after 3 years in the system, and we know he's a much better runner.. And yet with the forward passes we have seen attempted it begs the questions, at least in my mind.

I mean he’s been a turnover machine ever since his first game as a freshman vs GT on that Thursday night. Has always looked jittery and deer in the head lights in mop up duty for 2 years, so my eyes from the outside have told me he is pretty bad for 2 years.

DJ is ranked about 90th in the nation so the bar is set pretty low.

He did tear his Achilles tendon in April, so there's that. Maybe he's cleared to serve as a backup if really needed, but the coaches would prefer to give him a little more time to completely heal before taking hits on his ankle. Just a guess.

IMO the end of the spring game and some snaps against SCST made me feel more comfortable with him running the offense.
A lotta folks seem concerned (don't blame them) regarding past mop up duty times because I agree, if that was the last I saw of TP7 I'd write him off but the offensive feel compared to watching DJU5 just seems a little more natural feeling.
TP7 definitely seems a little smoother in the pocket and rpo game.
Granted, coaches do see them a lot more than us and I imagine DJUs ceiling is probably higher so if the offense gels with him our offense can really do some things.
But not going to lie, watching DJU5 take off with the ball is like watching a freight train get goin. Slow start but he could really lay some wood on someone at full speed though we've all seen him prefer not to probably to protect himself.

Yes, he just runs out of bounds when he could pick up a couple of more yards.

If he was 100% healthy and not coming off an acl injury DJ would have been benched by now.

I don’t think it’s that he is bad

I think the coaches just think DJ has more upside and see him working hard and don’t want to disrupt it by pulling him out.
They think pulling him will lead to More bad than good
