Does he get credit for getting an outside hire or do we blast him for hiring another Clemson guy?

Makes, however his failure to see his mistakes before they are blatantly put in his face doesn’t. If that makes any sense.

Try walking a mile in his shoes. By next year, Dabo will be the all-time winningest coach in Clemson football history. The only other active coach, at this time, with more than one Natty is Saban. This has been accomplished in 14 and 1/2 seasons. When you get old, I hope you appreciate what we have at this time because I can still remember the Hootie years.

Shocking that Tommy Bowden lasted 9 1/2 years.

win 10 or more games in 12 straight seasons in history. The other 2 are Alabama and Florida State. 39 consecutive home games won. Who does that? To some people on here, I quote Steely Dan "You wouldn't even know a diamond, if you held it in your hand..."

Even though I'm among the critics. . . you make a good point

I think all this blather about hiring outside vs. from within is a huge waste of brain power and rhetoric. I don't give a crap whether he hires from within or not. What I care about is whether he lets anyone, regardless of their pedigree, stagnate and play too-close-to-the-vest while the offense dies on the vine, whilst giving fake and unsubstantiated excuses and denials in the process.
Now I grant my fellow critics may really be using "from within" (vs. from outside), as a sort of shorthand for simply promoting friends rather than hiring by way of merit. Fair enough. But I still don't know if that's ultimately the issue. Regardess of where the person comes from, there needs to be a meeting of the minds on the philosophy to be applied, and the philosophy ought not be one that allows what we've seen to occur.

Well, if that is the case I want to go out on top. As a non-alumni I will gladly stop posting if all of you could just TU me to 6317, and please stop there. Go Tigers!

The offense is scoring over 30 points a game and "is dying on the vine." The offensive play calling is horrible and none of the offensive coaches can recruit or coach (maybe not stated by you but the other critics). I haven't gone back to review all of your previous posts, but you state your opinion as if it were fact. I have previously challenged posters to state their credentials for expressing opinion as fact and I have seen very few that do. I have done so and admit I don't know enough about football (bench warmer in high school) to give a qualified opinion or criticism of the coaching staff, so I have to go by results. 9-1 is definitely in the top 10% of the country.
Now if you want to talk track and cross country, I was a 150 lb. walk on Chemistry major (sound like another walk on as described by Dabo). With a very limited budget our coach developed an over-acheiving program so I have seen good coaching.

That's a self-defeating method of argumentation . . .

if you are basing your argumentation on credentials, but then admit you don't have any, but assume you apparently have enough to falsify someone else, then you're gonna have to go back and review the laws of logic to explain that one. If your opinion holds any water then the credential bit is garbage. If the credential bit is garbage then why do you need mine. We can address the merits themselves without simplistically and reductionistically reducing everything to the bottom line - namely points, across the course of the season, ignoring contexts of opponents, situation, and play calling.
I'm not stating my opinions as fact, I'm stating facts. The playcalling, as of late anyway, during the recent spate of struggles, has been repetitive **even in the face of continued lack of productivity.** That's not an opinion, that's evident from watching the games. As a side note, I said nothing about inadequate recruiting.
So yeah you do have a lot to learn from TNet, it seems. Even the coaches have said none of them are satisfied with **any** facet of the offense. Are they speaking without knowledge when they say that? Taking their cues from the poor-mouther's on TNet? Obviously not.
