talking about the expansion stuff.

He says Big East football is on its death bed. He says SEC targets Clemson and FSU to kill the ACC.

I think there are strategic reasons to do this that are larger then just worrying about new states. They are killing the competition (ACC), monopolizing the region, and blocking potential new competition (B12).

Wow! Talk about not having to worry about strength of schedule anymore. I would love to be in the SEC East. I believe we would become a powerhouse and you'd see an increase on our chances with landing 5 star recruits. Travel would not be bad either.

Mr. SEC and the Outkick the coverage guy vow

Nov 20, 2012, 10:29 PM

the SEC will never add FSU, Clemson or GT. Their reasoning adds up. We need to be keeping all lines open, but may have to hope for Big12

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

one fatal flaw with their logic....

Nov 20, 2012, 10:40 PM

they are "market share" hardliners, hanging onto the Cable TV subscriber business model. In the 1990's that was solid.....do they really think that 10 years from now people will still have cable TV? Have they not realized yet that with the development of Smart TVs and IPTV that the entire entertainment world is changing? DO they not see all of the carriage fee wars going on with cable and satellite providers? This business model is beginning to show that it is not sustainable (too expensive) and will probably be history in the next decade.

These market footprints are eroding away with every year that goes by...

Exactly, good insight****

True and their logic would allow the Big12, through Clemson

Nov 21, 2012, 10:19 AM [ in reply to one fatal flaw with their logic.... ]

and FSU, to set up camp right in their backyard, inside their house even. Do they really want Texas and Oklahoma making appearances in Florida, Atlanta or western South Carolina on a regular basis. Can you say recruiting these areas?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It would be kind of cool to have Texas and Oklahoma

Nov 20, 2012, 10:30 PM

come into Death Valley every year.

That would be good motivation for the SEC to block the Big 12 and Big 10.

I think they'd insist on home and home.

SEC should go on up to 20

Nov 20, 2012, 11:14 PM

Add CU, FSU, Miami, GT, VT & NCSU. Have four pods of five teams each. This would add the states of NC & VA for them, while locking the Big XII and the B1G out of the region for the most part. UNC would probably wind up in the B1G under this scenario, though.

UNC can twist in the wind for all I care...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Your same 6 teams plus WV and TCU to form the Eastern

Nov 20, 2012, 11:40 PM [ in reply to SEC should go on up to 20 ]

Division of the Big 12. TCU is an easy travel destination for the rest via D/FW airport. 7 inter-divisional games, 1 major OOC game to start, 1 FCS in-state, and Scar rivalry game at the end would leave room for 2 cross-divisional rivals to be rotated every 4 years on a home/away basis of 1 home/1 away per year. This would essentially surround the SEC footprint and preserve the core of the ACC football schools and the fertile recruiting grounds of the SE Atlantic seaboard while still allowing established geographical rivalries to remain and less travel to be required.
