Scholarships update

Now that players have made decisions on coming back or not, let's take a look at how many schollies we have:
QB (3): Lawrence, Brice, Batson RB (3): ETN, Dixon, Feaster TE (3): Williams, Chalk, Galloway WR (7): Overton, Powell, Chase, Higgins, Rogers, Kendrick, Ross OL (12): Giella, Pollard, Simpson, Anchrum, Cervenka, Reeves, Stewart, DeHond, Bockhorst, Vinson, Carman, McFadden
DL (9): Pinckney, Foster, Kelly, Rudolph, Thomas, Williams, Henry, Mascoll, Jeffries LB (6): Smith, Smith, Skalski, Spector, Jones, Venables S (5): Muse, Wallace, Johnson, Simmons, Turner CB (5): Dawkins, Terrell, Williams, Goodrich, McMichael
ST (3): Phibbs, Spiers, Potter
That's 56. If Giella is done bc of suspension, that's 55. Meaning we have 30 to give, and 27 signed. I've heard we're taking 30 in this class. Does that mean we expect no transfers, or is that bc 30 is the limit?

could have even counted back to the previous year because I believe there was room there. Given that, in essence, we can sign as many as we want as long as we don't go over the 85 total. We had plenty of early enrollees that will count to the space left in 2018 so the 25 for a year is not an issue. I'm not aware of a conference rule overlay that caps us to 30. Some conferences had 25 or 28 player caps in the past(for Dec1-May30 signees) that overlayed on top of the NCAA rule but haven't seen anything that shows the ACC had/has anything in place so assuming 85 is the only # we're concerned with. That said, we could just hold 1 or 2 if we don't find the right guy, position and fit.

I think there is some wiggle room because sometimes walk-ons who are awarded a scholarship are done so on a year-to-year basis. Once TP comes in, Batson may go back to walk-on status. I wouldn't be shocked if he moved back to defense, which was the original plan I believe when he came in.
Also I would expect that even if Giella is suspended Dabo will honor his scholarship for the year.
