The offensive line is once again going to leave a lot to be desired in Jacksonville, but Liam Coen's offense made Baker Mayfield look like a top 5 QB in the NFL last year... 4500 yards, 41 TD (both career highs by a significant margin.)
With Brian Thomas Jr, Travis Hunter, and the talent in their backfield they need to win now and Trevor needs to look good doing it (4000+ yards, 30+ TDs) or they're going to be forced to move on.

Always a problem going high in the NFL draft, you can end up with a crap 💩 team! Jacksonville has to turn it around now, or Trevor will burn out his career in a dumpster fire 🔥
He looked good Sunday….. He still has the talent to be a big winner in the NFL, on the right team! A trade would probably benefit Trevor far more than Jacksonville! Go Jacksonville , win now! Same story with Matt Stafford in Detroit, and watching Archie Manning wasting his NFL career in New Orleans. DW4 really screwed up his good career in Houston, but he still got paid…..
Go Tigers, Beat LSU!

True, but 2025 thru 2028 are still big cash and cap hits
Aug 19, 2025, 11:03 AM
|
|
| | Cap | Dead | NFL |
| Year | Cash | Hit | Cap | Cap |
| 2025 | 37.5M | 17M | 133M | 279.2M |
| 2026 | 37.5M | 24M | 88.5M | 307.12M |
| 2027 | 41.5M | 35M | 44M | 337.8M |
| 2028 | 46.5M | 47M | 7.5M | 371.6M |
| 2029 | 78.5M | 50.5M | 0 | 408.8M |
| 2030 | 74.8M | 53.8M | 0 | 449.6M |
The future caps are estimated, but 10% of the cap in 2027 and 12.6% in 2028. That's a lot for a player that, frankly, has underperformed against the expectations. Whoever would trade for him inherits all of that burden.
2027 is the first year where financially it's even feasible to cut him, but really only if you do it after June 1 to spread the $44M across 2 seasons. 2028 whoever owns this contract could cut him whenever they wanted - it saves $30M of cap space, if he's a pre-June 1 cut, you eat the $7.5M in one hit, which isn't that bad.
The finances on this contract, even with the last 2 years being not guaranteed, don't make much sense for anyone to trade for TLaw.

I disagree. If you think he's your starting QB, the price is right until 2029. A salary in the $40s is mid-pack for a QB.

True, TL didn't have a lot of help in areas but, right or wrong, Pedersen is respected and him saying Clemson didn't prepare tl16 for the pros is being used against us on the recruiting trail... just like our oline has in the past.
Thank goodness we moved on from street and have Riley and Matt Luke. The tide has turned, and will continue with a good year this year.

What about the coaching staff at Jax before Peterson got there? The ones who drafted him and were terrible got canned. They may have given him some bad habits or let him sway from his fundamentals from Clemson.

An NFL team can be average with a decent QB if they have really good players but they cannot be Championship quality without a great QB. The question is whether the Jags are good enough for a QB to make a difference.

.......should I say infected the fan-base down there. After that ...the injuries happened...coaching changes have happened....players coming and going....etc..
Lawrence has just been suffering football-wise from lack of consistency and continuity. Is there a draft class to get analysts in case one of them goes on a streak of not knowing what the heck they're talking about.

jury is still out as to whether Travis Hunter is going to be much of an asset.

I think he'll be oft injured if he's still trying to play both sides of the ball in the NFL. If i'm trevor i'd push for him to be a WR only otherwise it takes a toll on chemistry if he's in and out all the time. ITs not that he can't play the positions.. there are alot of NFL players that could perform those positions but its the physical toll it takes and he's pretty small and those hits are different in the NFL. Taking hits or delivering hits are all hard on the body. So i don't foresee is longevity being much to lean on for Trevor.
I look at their offense and I still see a whole lot of difference. Maybe teh Line is better which will be good for him but they downgraded at TE and they have the same running backs. Thomas has more experience which is an upgrade but if he's doubled up then he's got what? The same help basically. Unless Hunter figures a way to be phenomenal. He really needed another big target WR to the be the 2. Which was the TMAC guy that the panthers got. That would've made the most sense for Trevor.

Same line, same defense

And a different QB is going to do better with that line? And does QB have much effect on a porous defense?
