Rutgers has some tough players

Mar 16, 2021, 3:10 PM

Clemson better be ready for a fight from the get go. Rutgers looks like they have some tough guards and a tough big man. They seem to play quick and guards are fast and can shift quickly. They drop passes through small windows.

Captain Obvious Preview: Clemson better be not only efficient with offensive, but better score... no long droughts. Do not fall in love with the 3 or outside jumpers. If that occurs quickly, then my opinion is Tigers are not wanting to battle to get space, position or offense. If they do not have the fight in them early, then they will lose.

Rutgers stinks at the line.

Rutgers plays 7 players (all 7 avg over 2o minutes per game). Occasionally they play 8 as that 8th players averages 15 min / gm.

Clemson plays 10 who average 10 or more minutes / game with only two players averaging 28+ min per game. Those two players are Simms and Trapp.

So I see the player keys to the game as follows:

1. Trapp - has to be better than his season averages
points (7), rebounds (5.4) assists (2.6) steals (0.7) blocks (0.3) turnovers (2.0)
FG% (40.3) FT% (58.3) 3 PT % (34.5)
When he does not play dumb, Clemson is better. If he could give Clemson a stat line of 9 pts with 1 3s, 2-3 from line, 8 rebounds and 6 assists with 0 turnovers, that would be great.

2. Need 3 people to be consistent in their scoring all night. And one of those cannot be Trapp.

3. Dawes and Honor will have to be play bigger, stronger and tougher because Rutgers guards are bigger. Offense needs to be able to get them space and some offense.

Keys to the game for whole team:
A. Clemson will have to be able to create offense either great ball movement or above average one-one-one winning.

Coach keys to the game:
Coach BB and staff will have to be a step ahead of the flow and outcome of the game. That means substitutions, defense and offense adjustments, dictating pace and controlling the momentums.

I'm pretty sure Rutgers is terrible at every sport...

Not worried.

Thanks...

I'm relieved...was getting concerned about them.
