Doug Kingsmore Stadium

Serious question -
What's being done to the stadium? What changes are planned and why?
I see so many comments on TigerNet about this recently that I don't know what's real or a joke in light of our season-ending collapse.

Right now...

the field is being ripped up to improve the drainage in the outfield. Every time there's a thunderstorm, water puddles in center field. The field will be flat, just like removing the crown from Death Valley a decade or so ago, while the slope against the fence will remain. In fact, the slope will be consistent from fair pole to fair pole, unlike now. Now it is much more significant in left field than in center field or right. I'd much prefer for the padding to be attached directly to the front wall of the Chapman Grandstands; the chain link fence isn't straight and it looks awful. In the near future, Clemson is going to make some much-needed improvements to the first base side of the stadium, including a lobby like the one at Death Valley, some premium seating areas above the stands and improvements for the players.

The most pressing

need for the baseball program right now is an improvement in the dressing rooms etc. They are extremely far behind the competition in those areas. Bob Mahoney and others have been leading a fund raising drive to bring these things 'up to snuff'. If you are as concerned with the baseball teams decline as you seem to be, I am sure Mr.Mahoney et al will gladly accept a small donation from each of you. With the way scholarships are awarded in baseball and other things that make it difficult to recruit, this is a way you can (and should) help. Of course, it is much more macho to complain on the internet behind a user name and call for the coaches head or bi^&h about the lamecocks. go tigers

reception area to display Clemson's baseball awards, banners, CWS stuff. If you want to see something amazing, call Bob Mahony & ask him to take you through the locker room. It is a stark contrast to the beautiful stadium outside! Cramped, very low ceiling, concrete block walls, horrible lighting. (on a par with Duke's football facilities!)

it doesnt look that bad in the picture though I believe you. I thought I heard when hoops redid LJ 10 years ago OP didnt like the new locker room and it was immediately redone to be nicer. seems if baseball had a need there would have been something to giving them a remodel then.
I do understand this project is much larger than just that but it seems there would be some rotation or prioritizaton for other sports

I like this a lot. It should look really cool, will all of that be done before the 2014 season?

It will not be done before the 2014 season...

I just hope it's been STARTED before the 2014 season. Dan Radakovich apparently wants to expand the project to include more fan amenities, but so far what those additions might be hasn't been announced. The three things I'd like to see are 1) more cover over the seats, 2) a concession stand that faces the field, 3) a new scoreboard that's all video screen like the one in Death Valley.

Oh ok, gotcha. I'd love to see the added boxes on the right field line like in that rendering.

grand stands be the outfield wall. Also, push home plate out some any install field level premium seating between the dugouts and also down the left field line. Would be great to have seating that "hugged" the lines and enclosed the field more.
