Opinions solicited: what/ who is responsible for the plight

Jun 19, 2022, 10:56 PM

of African-Americans today? Take into account their social status, educational status, financial status, political status, family structure/ status, their political strength, and so on. WHY are they worse off than they were 60-70 years ago: main reasons in your estimation?

OK, go....................

I’m old enough to remember those days in the South. I remember a bunch of rednecks overturning a bus with young black children in Lamar.

I remember driving past cross burnings off US 76 near Marion.

Systemic racism was a real thing. Things are infinitely better for blacks now.

To argue otherwise Miura, puts you in the same space as Al Sharpton and the usual suspects. One can argue that blacks as a whole are not where they could be for a host of reasons.

However, to argue that blacks are really worse off is a specious argument.

Since you brought this up, who do you think should have won the 1964 election? Johnson(D), or Goldwater(R)?

In America, most “plight” is self-inflicted.

You are correct. Some people do have unfortunate things happen out of their control such as health problems. So, I would never say always but it is true that if you want to make it in America the opportunity is there for now. I don’t care what color your skin is.

Says the guy who disappeared when I offered to debate him in person; that is to say a real debate. Soon as you grow a pair, I'll be waiting. However, we all know you're too cowardly to engage in a real live, in person discussion, which surprises nobody!

Yellow comes to mind. BTW, what is your most valid reason for NOT debating in person?

The only thing more pointless than arguing politics

Jun 20, 2022, 1:08 PM [ in reply to Re: Racist twatwaffles like you who are too yellow ]

Online is arguing politics in person. The only thing more pointless than arguing politics in person is making a formal to-do of arguing politics in person. And the only thing more sad, pointless and pathetic of making a big to-do of debating in person is to be so absolutely desperate to prove yourself to random people on the Internet that you're good at talking that you would pay strangers to come to your estate to do it.

You're a great example of how no amount of money in the world can buy class or self-actualization.

The very fact that you would not take the avenue of least effort to debate, when it is a mode of communication you so often abuse, is that you're a sad old man who is desperate for attention. You have no interest in the actual exchange of ideas.

black Americans are worse off now than 70 yrs ago (1952)?

Typical of Murals feeble-minded hit and run style. Take a dump on the board, don't stick around to defend or debate it, then claim victory when people are shocked that something so dimwitted could come out of a person's mind who claims to have gone to Clemson. All I can say is I guess standards were lower back in the day.

Re: Opinions solicited: what/ who is responsible for the plight

Check out this snapshot from the early 1950s. After segregation but before the "war on poverty."

The reasons why the majority of blacks have not made it to middle class America, as it seemed like that's where they were headed in 1954 (see the video), are complex.

But, at the top of the list is the simple answer - the democrats are a major reason. The democrats have used the black community as a pawn to advance their own political power at the expense of blacks that are now too dependent (generational dependence) on the federal government.

Once this pattern started it went downhill. The race industry emerged and now not only are democrats dependent on the black block vote, but the race industry is in fact an industry and people's livelihood depend on racism existing. This is one major reason why racism will NEVER end - it will never end for those who depend on it to live.

Re: Opinions solicited: what/ who is responsible for the plight

Miura, the progressives on the board are so terrified of this topic, they'll hardly engage. All they can do is TD your post.

If we compare 1955 to 2022 and think about the black community as a whole:

Which generation of blacks had/has more hope?
Which generation of blacks valued/values the family more?
Which generation of blacks valued/values education more?
Which generation of blacks was/is more concerned with the future than the past?

Depending on your metric of "better off" it is not off-base to at least consider the question whether or not blacks are better off today than in 1955.

You can just as easily make the argument...comparing the same generations:

Which generation produced a POTUS, VPOTUS, & SCOTUS?
Which generation produced many high-ranking military officials and CEOs?
Which generation produced more college graduates?

and conclude blacks are far better off today.

What if think about how blacks are perceived by whites today compared to 1955? I would guess perceptions are vastly different, but not sure the end result is that much different, or could it be worse? Birm, Cat, Balm, and the rest will take the easy group-think path to this and say it was "classic" racism then and it is "classic" racism now. That simpleton approach will impress your woke friends, but that is not what is happening.

you can't even fathom a legitimate, scientific, intellectual question. Come on, man!

Really, "we all know" huh?

Just like we (you people) knew

-the Steele Dossier was real
-HB's laptop was Russian disinformation
-if you got the vaccine you could not catch the virus
-locking down would provide much fewer COVID deaths and cases

which you considered FACTS not so long ago. The credibility meter on what "we all know" ain't so good.

If only Goldwater had won in 64, blacks would be so much better off.
