Reverse FSU and Clemson

If Clemson was undefeated right now, and just beat Louisville in the acc championship with a 3rd string qb. Do we get in the playoffs? Assuming FSU had a 8-4 record.

......they got a few weeks to get that kid playing better and prove themselves. They don't have to win because nobody expects them to...but they do need to play better offensively.
Something can happen to Michigan's quarterback between now and their next game...but the show would have to go on anyway.

Just posted this Sam logic. Was thinking last night about Bama’s QB getting a concussion first play of the game and what would people say then if they folded? The committee needs to make sure that they are have a set process and that’s it. I hope when they expand to 12-teams they can have specific criteria to select teams and never stray from it.
Go Tigers!

Not if it means the SEC is left out.
Getting an SEC team in is the only thing that matters. Yes, Clemson would get screwed.

Agree 100% that results should matter. I believe FSU as an undefeated conference champion should be in, no matter their QB situation.
With that said, I’d be shocked if an SEC team is left out and FSU is bumped. Because, as we all know, it just means more in the SEC.

I am in the same boat. I feel FSU should get in. Beating teams with backup quarterbacks should help them get in. GT just played UGA really close. Bama just needed a 4th and 31 to beat a terrible Auburn team who the week before got blown out by New Mexico State. Both of those teams are very beatable. I would point out Ohio state who I hate could beat both of them. Just hate the SEC bias.

To answer your question, Clemson would have barely missed the Playoffs last

year. If they came back with an unbeaten season this year, with all the Dabo credit in the bank from previous postseason performance, I think we would get in.
BUTT, if you put our 2023 season in place of 2022? Coming off that, I don't think we get in. All the "weak ACC" hubris would spring up full force, and lobby us out.

I agree. I guess it really doesn’t matter because next year we go to 12 teams and the conference champ is in. Just would be a shame to see a undefeated ACC champ who beat two SEC teams get left out the playoffs. It will show how the committee really feels about the ACC.

Florida State ""EARNED"" their spot by winning all 13 games and a conference title !!!!!!!! Same as Washington and Michigan __________________ Texas whipped the "winner" of last nights game,so what the heck is all the confusion about ????????????????
And by the way,Texas and Oklahoma are "soon to be"" members of the mighty SEC,____ that should deserve some respect ?????

It is simply an answer to the question:
Is the current FSU team (or Clemson were we in the exact same situation) better than the other Power 5 Champions:
Washington Michigan Texas Alabama
Answering THAT question is the only thing that matters and what the CFP Committee has to determine. "Deserve" has got nothing to do with it.
I also contend there is no way for the CFP Committee to answer that question without acknowledging the condition of which FSU finds itself; a handicapped offense that since losing it's starting QB has struggled to pass the ball and not gained over 224 total yards of offense against the 18th (Louisville) and 68th (Florida) ranked defenses. How does that stack up against Washington, Michigan, Texas, and Alabama?? Is it enough to turn them out of the CFP??
What do you believe to be the likely result of a matchup between FSU and all of the other Power 5 Champ teams. If you firmly believe FSU has a 50% or greater chance of losing in all of those matchups - then they are not one of the 4 best teams and should be left out. If you firmly believe FSU has a better than 50% chance of beating each of those teams then they should be in. That is what the CFP has to determine and like it or not - "eye test" and other subjective factors will enter that equation.

Michigan had 213 yards last night with their QB1.
Alabama needed a miracle against a very bad Auburn team, with their QB1.
Florida St won the ACC championship by 10 points with their QB3. They would have QB2 back for their next game.
You can look at the facts from many angles and create vastly different narratives. Bottom line - FSU beat everyone on the schedule, beat more bowl-eligible teams than anyone else in CFP contention, and have a conference championship checkbox on the resume. They should be in.

beating Michigan, Texas, Washington or Alabama?
If no - they don't belong in the playoff. If yes then who do you think FSU has a better than 50% chance of beating and who do you leave out?
It is true Alabama had a "miracle" play (of their own making) to beat Auburn. Some would also say that FSU had a minor miracle that Clemson missed a 4th Quarter chip shot field goal to beat them in Death Valley. So miracles have many ways of manifesting themselves in college football.
You also have to admit - Alabama beating UGA in a champ game is in no way comparable to FSU beating a very suspect Louisville team in a champ game.
Best wins??
FSU's best win is LSU. Well... Bama beat LSU you AND UGA... I just don't see any CFP decision that leaves Bama out and if Bama makes it so does Texas.
IMO - the only argument to be made in favor of FSU is to boot Michigan from the top 4. But, unfortunately, that ain't going to happen because the scale is tilted in Michigan's favor because of their recent best win (Ohio State) is simply better than FSU's first game of the season best win against LSU.

I mean it took a 4th and 31 for Bama to beat a bad auburn team. Bama’s offense has had struggles also. I feel Ohio state is better than Bama. If we are going 4 best teams. Oregon may be better also. Oregon has close losses to probably the best team in the playoff.

Yes. Because FSU is new kid on block and easier to leave out with #3 QB. But it's a moot point.

If they are left out I don’t care, it just shows the situation we are in with the ACC. But why did the committee make them number 4 going into the conference championship games. They struggled with Florida but yet they still made them 4. I don’t see how you can make a team number 4 then punish them for winning with a 3rd string QB. If they would have made them 6 last week nobody would be talking about it.
