We finished 11-2 with a bowl game upcoming. Like many on Tnet, I also wanted DJ taken out in the ND and SC games.
But, I also remind myself that we don’t win the Wake game without DJ. 5 touchdowns and 371 yards passing. He played very well early this season and actually helped us win games.
The playoff is set. It’s logical for people to wonder about the ‘what if’ two losses we had and the playoff implications. I was pissed off after the Acc championship because we ‘only’ got in the Orange Bowl.
A day after the NC game I took time to reflect on the entire season. It’s not easy to get double digit wins year after year. A few bad bounces and we could be lamenting about 5 or 6 losses.
I’m putting the DJU issues behind me and look forward to seeing the 11-2 Tigers win the Orange Bowl. Happy Holidays all.
Honestly; that's all any of us can do. Be it a "negative Ned or a supposed sunshine pumper"!
It's hard to win is not just a dang cliche. But, too many people on here believe the hype about the ACC and think we are supposed to just show up and beat everyone on our schedule by 40 pts.
You wonder if those people ever took a good close look then at the Big 10 or the middle and bottom of the SEC? Probably not. Because, the ACC has more NC in football outside of the SEC since 2000(4) next closest is 2 with the Big 12, Big 10 and Pac 12 all having won 2. Note: Miami was technically in the Big East in 2002; but are a current ACC team. FSU and Clemson twice though still give the conference 3. Yet, the propaganda machine has many fans believing Clemson just needs to show up.
Winning is hard! And, you are teams Super Bowl every week.
We should be happy to have a coach like Dabo and the program we do. I think the rest of college football got annoyed a bit with our winning ways; but will soon be back to Clemson because we are the breath of fresh air the sport needs. The outlier! The team that challenges the "big boy blue bloods" and changes the narrative that you have to be one of them.
Prior to the 2015 season and getting #2 I can remember a similar feeling of a program on the rise. We aren't on the rise perse; but we are revamping and reshaping and adapting to the current landscape. I don't see Dabo as someone who will be content with "just okay"! I expect some minor changes and some push by him on certain areas of the team.
But, as you said, overall we had a fantastic season! Never good to lose to scar; but whatever they still are terrible; and we are still superior! And, we still have far more to look forward to in the sport!
