how weak the ACC was supposed to be in men's hoops this season !?!?!? Here we are after weekend one, three teams from the ACC punching their tickets to the Sweet 16. That’s more Sweet 16 teams than the Big Ten (2) or the SEC (1) and the same number as the Big 12. So...remind me again how weak the ACC was in men's hoops this past season.

While it's true the ACC’s non-conference schedule, outside of a few teams, wasn't all that great, perhaps, just maybe, counting out an entire conference based on what happens during the first couple of weeks of the season is ill-advised. The talking heads certainly don't apply that same logic to $EC football.

there is too much parity and who knows who the best teams are. They change week to week. The ACC has several good teams and they basically beat each other up during the season and make all the records look average. The ACC is weak argument was only beneficial to the Brownlee haters.

Not so much the ACC is weak but down. Not your dominant conference as it was.

With bball parity, it's more of a pleasant surprise that 3 made the 16... Whereas a decade ago, it'd be a shock if 3 teams did NOT make the 16.

I don’t think you’re looking closely regardless of the polls. The 3 teams that are still in the tourney finished the season in the top 4 of the conference. The bottom 8 teams (more than half) won 17 or less total games. The bottom half of the conference was terrible. That three teams who clearly deserved their bids advanced doesn’t change the reality of the ACC regular season. The years we had many more team go and ended up with less teams advancing didn’t make us a worse conference then. Your case would be much stronger if VT, the wild card on a winning streak, had managed to get out of the first round. But with 23 wins they were still well above the demarcation line of mediocrity in the ACC.
