How good is Zaire? Think of a talentless Michael Vick...lefty QBs are about as reliable as a fart while having the flu.

the NFL ROY award, the first college player to ever do so. ND should have the talent to win Pinstripe Bowl.

More of a run-first, zone read type QB that's pretty quick. Has the potential to beat you with his legs if a defense is not prepared for that scheme. Defenses should expect some boot leg passes. Not a real tall guy, I believe he's listed at six feet tall, and you know how listings are, so it wouldn't surprise me if he's 5-10. Hard to find him behind that line as they are 6-6, 6-6, 6-5, 6-4, and 6-7 across the board.
A left handed QB that can make some big time throws but at times we've seen him be inconsistent. He's been known to stare down his targeted receiver. One of the more emotional QB's you'll see- which could be a disadvantage for him. Last year, completed 21 of 35 passes for 266 yards and one TD on the season. Also added 187 yards rushing on 33 carries, including a pair of TD runs and a 56-yard scamper (against Rice).
Did see some playing time versus USC last year in a total blowout by the Trojans- totaled 5 drives in that game. Led the Irish on a pair of touchdown drives. Completed nine of 20 passes for 170 yards, including a 49-yard pass play with junior WR Chris Brown. Ran for 18 yards on six carries. Started in the Music City Bowl against LSU and had 96 yards passing and 96 yards rushing.
His film from last season <###### width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/#####/XCzQIQdPekU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen>######>

teams, at pass interference. They must practice it a lot to be that good. Their WR can block and hold as well as the offensive linemen. Both side of the ball.
We need to start working on counter measures to their PI strategery yesterday to stay with them in earth's gravity.

They may have the best online as a group in college football. A lot of returning starters on both sides of the ball. Qb is a Conner shaw type quarterback. I think their the best team we face this year. My score prediction for the game is Clemson 34 Ndame 31

Lot's of people want to over-look ND because of last year. Apparently not realizing that 4 of their best playmakers were suspended. This year they return 17 starters and they're recruiting over the last 5 years has been #10. Among the notables returning is Linebacker Jaylon Mills a 5 star who started every game the last 2 years.....he had 112 tackles last year among them 17 TFL's.
Many consider their front OL to be among the best in college with a couple of potential 1st rounders.
Although I think that Sports Illustrated is wrong, they have ND ranked at #4 preseason.
ND has tons of money and lots of pride. They're were very good reasons for their drop off last year....and most of those reason's don't exist any more.
We'll beat them no doubt.....that is unless our team overlooks them like a lot of people are doing.
My take Clemson 27-21
IMO

I posted more on Zaire in another ND QB thread, but the only possible glaring weakness that he might have is moving the ball between the 20's. He seems to be at his best inside the Red Zone. He does tend to pull the ball down quickly, similar to Conner Shaw his first year, but he can be a force with his legs. ND used Golson (vs. LSU bowl game) between the 20's to move the ball, and once inside the RZ, they put Zaire in the game to score. Lots of ND fans weren't happy watching Kelly yank Golson after he did all the work to get ND into the RZ. Kelly must have had his reasons for that, but one has to wonder why he did that repeatedly.
Zaire probably needs to beat GT and Texas prior to running that mouth again though. He hasn't earned the right to smack talk yet.

They return a ton from last year, and their defense should be much better. That was their problem last year, and it was caused mostly by injuries.
Their OL is very good.

I believe a lot of us Clemson fans are over looking ND... They have what could possibly be the best offensive line in the country, and Zaire's legs could be a problem. Our defenses have always seemed to struggle against mobile quarter backs (Connor Shaw, Braxton Miller.) The zone read will obviously be a big part of their game plan which could be a problem considering the youth in the front 7 for us, the younger players eyes could tend to drift and get caught with eye candy. The same could hold true on play action. They will do a good job of moving the pocket and doing what they can to scheme around shaq Lawson and make him as ineffective as possible. Their receiving core is nothing that special, and considering the talent we have in the secondary we should be able to lock them down, but the biggest concern is their rushing attack against a young front 7. Their defense will be very solid, mainly due to a strong front 7. They WILL pressure Deshaun, which he can handle no doubt, but it could be a problem if our run game stalls and we are forced into predictable passing situations (like against Georgia last season). Thy are a scary team, probably the most dangerous team on our schedule in my opinion.
