Remember how awesome Clemson football was in the nineties

I do. Freshman in 96. Was it in 97 we tore down the goalposts after beating a one win SCar team taking Clemson to like 3-4 wins?
Add in the behavioral issues and arrests that seemed to be scrolling across the screen or local papers to go with those beautiful 4-7 win seasons.
Yes, we have invested in nice facilities. Yes, we have invested in coaching… and guess what, it worked!! Who here is not able to acknowledge that what we as a fan base experienced over the last 10 years only happens in a lifetime for a few fanbases at best. What a gift to be a part of it all!
The winning has been amazing and FUN!!
And I am gonna acknowledge that I’m a graduate… and maybe it matters to some and not to others.. but as a graduate, I’m pulling for Clemson University always. I want us to win, but how the teams represent Clemson off the field matters to me too. Big time. And how this program represents Clemson University under Dabo is special.
I’ll take the down year/s. I’ll take years of multiple losses if we also have years where we are competitive for ACC champs and nationally as long as we continue to produce high quality human beings on and off the field.
What Dabo is doing here at Clemson is far more impressive and deserves to be measured not just by W/Ls, which yes, matters. So don’t slippery slope me with b s or responses about constantly running out 3 win teams of nice guys or some extreme and lame argument as such.
Nobody has done what Dabo has done at Clemson. Nobody.
I am so grateful to have him as the coach and leader of the team. Some of y'all are hugely lacking in perspective.
We all see the problems. They’ll get fixed, or they won’t, but this ain’t Brownell we’re talking about. This is a coach who is about to be the all time leader in wins at Clemson, with an 80%+ overall winning percentage, 2 recent National Champs won and 2 nattys lost, 6 playoffs total who graduates players, many of who go in to the league.
No need to pump sunshine, just look at the facts. I’m sticking with Dabo until he gives ACTUAL reason not to.
Go Tigers

I also remember the ‘88 Citrus Bowl The ‘89 Citrus Bowl The ‘89 Gator Bowl The Hall Of Fame Bowl when we dominated Illinois. We can’t dominate ANYONE now. We BARELY beat Wake Forest scoring 17 points. 3 wins in our last 9 games against Power 5 teams. I still support Dabo- but Clemson was a GREAT program before he came. I am grateful for him and what he has done for the program. I won’t call him on his radio show and put him on the spot- but I also won’t accept this level of underachievement.

early and convincingly with Watson and TLaw count in assessing Dabo? Or is it strictly the last 10 games? Are you assessing previous coaches the same way you are Dabo?
Bc I remember many games where these Dabo led Clemson Tigers lined up against in and out of conference D1 schools and ANNIHILATED them.
Miami players fighting each other on the sideline, 58-0 in Miami. NC ST Game I think with DW4 one year up like 28 or 35 - 0 in the first quarter.
We beat Scar so many times in a row they waved all those white flags and took a year off to think about what they’d done. What was the new historical streak at that point? 7 games? FSU too.
One particular Cotton Bowl against ND (33-3 or something right?) followed by taking on “the best team ever” as some had proclaimed, and dismantling that Saban led Alabama team.
And yes 44-16 while running out the entire 4th Q clock is one of the biggest whoopings of all these listed… and done in a National Champ Game.
You can appreciate that Hall of Fame Bowl against Illinois and still see that Dabo has earned time and benefit of the doubt.

I'm talking about the embarrassing loss to Ohio State and everything else since.
