The volume of committs. We are no where near a top five...its early and we have a lot of fine quality committs....the powers that be have 8 to 10. But they will add the late greats and we have just a few more to add on. Top 15 maybe 10. Its like counting points in a NASCAR race at lap 49...how retarded.

This is only true of Rivals. I don't think ESPN counts numbers. They only count power rating. Therefore, Clemson is 5th on ESPN, but 3rd on Rivals. Not bad either way. But, you are correct in that Clemson will probably not have a top 5 ranked class. Maybe just outside the top ten or top ten. We will, however, have one kick ### recruiting class.

You mean FSU(10 commits 500pts behind) so if they get 5 more 4* they can move ahead of us.
Auburn (14 commits and 100 points behind) so another 4* and they could pass us.
As much as you want to downplay it. We have a very good recruiting class and even after your so called powers that be start to fill up will we still have a solid class that compares with the best of them.

That doesnt make sense. The Rivals ranking is a formula which factors in how highly regarded and how many. So basically Bama has 15 really good players (2 5*) they are #1. Penn State has 16 good players #2. We have some good players as well, 15 with 1 5*. I don't see a discrepancy. We are just as in the mix as FSU, Auburn, SC and everyone else that is right around us. If we only have a 7 3* sign from here on the we will drop. However, most of the remaining targets are 4*

First of all, the "powers that be" don't just have 8-10 commitments. In fact, Alabama is #1 right now with 15 commitments- the same as Clemson. Penn State, the #2 team right now, has 16 commitments- one more than Clemson. Most of the schools that usually recruit well- "the powers that be"- currently have 10-12 commitments.
Second, while it's true that Clemson's "average star ranking" is not in the top 10 right now, it is in the top 20. Most expect us to take another 7-10 prospects, and there are quite a few among those who are very highly regarded. Rather than assume that Clemson isn't filling up spots on a first come first served basis so that it can wait on big name prospects, why not think that other schools with less commitments are pressing for big names earlier on and more likely to take fall backs late in the process?
Given that, as far as I can tell, Clemson should finish solidly in the top 10 if it just maintains its current "star average," but it can stay in the top 5 if it finishes strong.
Lastly, it's no more "retarded" to rank recruiting classes now than it is to rank teams in week 4 or to note what position a car is in during lap 49 of a NASCAR race. Nobody thinks what we're ranked right now really means anything, but it isn't wrong to note how well we're doing at this point.

Too many big named targets out there to not to. Just Huggins and DJ Jones I think is enough to keep us in the top 10. That's a top 50 recruit and the #1 juco. Past that is just bonus. Realistic shot at Roseboro, Bryant, and barnett. These are all targets that Clemson will come down to the wire. I don't think we land settle or tuttle. That's why I feel DJ jones is a must get.

The early success not only snowballing but also allows us to be extremely selective with our remaining 2015 schollies.
Another ten win season should sure up a top 7 class, IMO.
