Recent Campus Pictures

Jun 5, 2013, 10:16 AM

Work has already begun on the field at Doug Kingsmore. The Riggs Field project is moving along rapidly and will be an enormous improvement. Should have been done years ago.

Wow, thats fast. Wish they would deliver that sod they are taking up to my house.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

hopefully they will get rid of that ugly fake grass

Jun 5, 2013, 10:54 AM

at homeplate, if it's still there anymore.

Ruins the look of BTF.

There will still be artificial turf behind home plate...

Jun 5, 2013, 10:59 AM

and in the on-deck circles. There will also be about 6' of artificial turf along the bullpen fences. The grass gets worn out with all the use, especially between home plate and the Clemson dugout, so there basically has to be artificial turf from the maintenance aspect. I know you don't like anything, but it's a practical issue.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

that's odd

Jun 5, 2013, 11:05 AM

these other schools seem to get by alright

SCAR has artificial turf behind its home plate

Jun 5, 2013, 11:20 AM

a MUCH bigger area than Clemson.

Did you intentionally post that deceptive photo on here or did you honestly not know that?

That artificial turf would be great basically use the stuff like we have at our IDPF.

i didnt know that

that looks 1000% better than ours. we might as well just have painted concrete on ours.

Well I hope they will at least try and put in some of the turf grass stuff not just astro turf.

Re: There will still be artificial turf behind home plate...

Jun 5, 2013, 11:12 AM

wow at some of your responses. where would they even find astro turf today. you are such a great fact finder. i would bet clemson was one of the first to put down that turf. now almost everyone is doing it. i am just guessing that we may just use some of the more modern field turf this time. but hey, that is just a guess. no telling what jack will do huh.

Re: There will still be artificial turf behind home plate...

Jun 5, 2013, 11:19 AM

By Astroturf I mean the #### we have behind Home Plate now. It sure as hell is not the stuff we have at our practice facility.

Do you really think Clemson was one of the first schools to use turf grass?

Our practice field came after some schools like Ole Miss had it for their actual playing surface.

Re: There will still be artificial turf behind home plate...

Jun 5, 2013, 11:36 AM

good lord you are dense. and please that is not a personal attack. i clearly said we were one of the first schools to use the turf around the home plate area. it is now wore out and will be replaced, much like the orange seats that turned pink.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: There will still be artificial turf behind home plate...

Jun 5, 2013, 11:41 AM

And that turf is not the newer stuff that I was simply saying I hoped we replaced it with The old stuff looked closer to astro turf.

I made a simple comment that even baseball fan agreed with.

it makes us unique and if only the vistors look at them it will lull them into a submissive mindset. (sarcasm)

I hope they'll use what's on the practice field...

Jun 5, 2013, 11:12 AM [ in reply to Re: There will still be artificial turf behind home plate... ]

and in the indoor practice facility. I also wish that the "Clemson" behind home plate would be make out of orange turf instead of being paint.

not me. I actually complain very little.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

good grief man

Jun 5, 2013, 11:19 AM

I was just hoping for what I see as something making BTF look ugly to be fixed. It's not just tiger field, I hate it on all college parks. I just think its ugly and BTF was always great before this was added and we never had issues.

anyway, why you always have to lash out.

Jun 5, 2013, 1:01 PM

do cover up that grass during BP to protect it from wear.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's not just BP...

Jun 5, 2013, 1:23 PM

The constant use including practice and regular traffic from the dugout to the weight room wears out the grass between the dugout and home plate and the path becomes a muddy mess.
