Recency bias.

All schools have fans that are afflicted by it. Symptoms are: 1. Extreme mood swings from week to week based on outcome of most recent game. 2. Desire to fire coaches immediately or give them pay raises and extensions based on most recent game.
Examples:
1. aTm fans were ready to get rid of Jimbo. They were ranting about how stupid it was to give him a pay raise and extension over his already exorbitant contract. Many were hoping he would go to LSU when they fired Orgeron. Then, last Saturday. Now, Jimbo is the greatest coach in the history of college football and aTm isn't out of the playoff picture yet.
2. Bama fans absolutely know that Saban is the greatest coach in history and is on the top of his game, will win at least 5 more national championships, including this year. They have already given the Heisman to Young. Then, last Saturday. Now, Bama fans are saying that Saban is hiring too many NFL coaches who don't understand the college game. They are blaming the OC for the loss. They are saying Young will never be a good QB, "he's too short and his arm is too weak and no one on the staff can develop him." They are saying he shouldn't have a constant turnover in coaches but have stability in the staff.
4. UNC fans love Mack Brown. Then Saturday. The game has passed him by. He should retire. His heart isn't in it.
3. FSU fans are ready to fire Norvell. He's worse than Taggart. The offense has no identity. The defense stinks. Then (after a glimmer of hope beating Cuse) last Saturday. Now, FSU is gonna run the table and win the ACC. Norvell has built the foundation, now the rocket is ready for lift off.
I could go on, but you get the idea. It is fun to read message boards of teams who were either upset or upset someone else. (I do it on Sunday afternoons while I'm watching PGA or NASCAR or - if neither of those is on, the NFL.)

I thought that our QB was the only one working on the forward pass, at least anything beyond the line of scrimmage!!!

With two losses, A&M is likely out of CFP consideration.***

You are correct.
*EVERYONE* here in Pittsburgh was calling for Narduzzi to be fired after the loss to WMU.
Now, everyone is talking about how Pitt has clear sailing to the ACC Coastal title and ACC Championship game.
Recency bias.

Ridiculous post

1. Thats literally every fan of every school, ever. Hell, its what FAN means. 2. False. The majority of fans base this off of trends, not one game.
Examples: 1. A&M has been grossly underachieving under Jimbo. One upset win doesnt change the overall trend. Could it start a new trend? Maybe, tbd. Or, it could be like Tommy Bowden. Year after year he had one win here that saved his ### from the axe.
2. Who is "they" exactly? A couple random posts off a random message board you found this morning? I would wager nearly any amount "they" still wouldnt trade saban, nor most of their players for anyone. Now I assume you are also referring to Clemson fans who want rid of Elliott and / or other offensive staff. Again, not one game or even one season but YEARS of inept offensive scheme and play calling. 3 & 4. Not sure why you put 3 and 4 out of order, but regardless, Ill take your word for FSU fans as MAYBE you have a pulse on that crowd....though you spend a suspicious amount of time on this board. But again.....trends.....I do believe UNC has folded up shop this year after such high expectations have turned into another middling ACC Coastal team. I was always of the opinion that Mack would quickly run out of steam at UNC. He had tired while at Texas. One last gasp at UNC and he may indeed be done. The top 10 ranking was never realistic or fair this year based on the talent they had recruited.....far too early in the rebuild for that, but it is what it is.

So we're saying his record the first two seasons, which were total rebuilds, are the reason he underachieved? Care to look at Dabo's record his first two seasons?
I'm not giving Jimbo supreme credit, but I am saying your evaluation of him at T&M is terrible.

Not nearly the rebuild Dabo had. Thats a ridiculous take. A&M recruiting rankings:
2014 - 5th 2015 - 11th 2016 - 18th 2017 - 13th

You posted the recruiting rankings for A&M the 4 years prior to Jimbo taking over? Here's how they compare to the 4 years prior to Dabo taking over at Clemson...
2005-17th 2006-16th 2007-16th 2008-12th
15.25 average
A&M's average the 4 years prior to Jimbo was 11.75
Let's compare wins/losses:
Clemson the 5 complete seasons prior to Dabo... 9-4 8-5 8-4 6-5 9-4
40-22
Texas A&M the 5 complete seasons prior to Jimbo... 7-6 8-5 8-5 8-5 9-4
40-25
Again, I'm no Jimbo fan, but you are going out of your way to try to make a point that is just not there.

You said it was a complete rebuild for A&M

Recruiting data suggests that assertion to be false. Also, what did Dabo earn as his initial salary? Jimbo? Dabo have any previous coaching experience? Jimbo? As you can see, hardly an apples to apples comparison you made.

You're not even defending your original statement about Jimbo anymore. Do you even remember what it was? You said Jimbo is underachieving. He was #5 in the country in year 3. Pretty impressive. You want to bring up wins/losses from his first two seasons, sure lets see how they compare to one of the greatest coaches of this era, Dabo Swinney. You want to bring up recruiting rankings prior to Jimbo's arrival? Sure, lets compare, and look at records prior to both coaches arrivals too. Now you are talking about expectations based on prior coaching experience and how that correlates with initial salary? If what you were doing right now was a gif...

I most certainly defended my argument and I was also countering your argument, kind of how debates work. The basis of your entire argument is he finished 5th in a truncated, covid ridden season. Mine is, yes, to this point he has underachieved with the talent he has had. Had they lost this past weekend I doubt youd even be arguing the fact so lets see where they go from here.

I will always love winning!

But I stopped letting losing bother me years ago.
That doesn’t mean I don’t get frustrated or irritated. But I don’t let a loss bother me that much and I sleep at night and I’m perfectly OK on Sunday.
And I don’t mind a loss ever when it’s two teams that went out there and fought hard and one team won the game.
My only frustration with the two losses this year is we could have and should have won those games. My irritability or frustration comes from seeing Clemson beat Clemson. Since we started winning 10 games every year and especially started winning the ACC championship most of our losses have been Clemson beating Clemson.
So yes I still care very much about Clemson athletics. And I want to win and I love winning. But I don’t let losses bother me anymore.
