Why has TE never been the “Hot Name”

With all the accolades, and there are many, hasn’t he been an in demand Big Name, must have Coach? We have all this back and forth about him and his offense regressing over time and the answer could be this simple. He’s still here after 6 ACC titles in a row, 6 straight playoff appearances, and TWO National Championships in 6 years! All that and he’s still waiting and waiting. No one seems to be in any hurry to hire him as a HC or steal his play calling talents from Clemson.

Sure enough, Hotsawce.
T.Elliott's terrible play-calling led to W.Shipley dropping that wide open (easy to catch) TD pass.
T.Elliott's terrible play-calling led to DJ gently tossing the shovel pass directly into the belly of the Pitt defender. DJ's lack of situational awareness (which doesn't reflect a lack of intelligence on DJ's behalf ... the lack of situational awareness is often identified in smart people who are terrible drivers) is of course the result of T.Elliott's terrible play calling.
B.Collins and A.Ajou (and let's not forget B.Galloway) drops ... again. Absolutely, another example of T.Elliott's terrible play-calling.
And finally ... DJ's errant passes. DJ is nearly as erratic in his passes as the young Nolan Ryan was with his problems in throwing that magnificent fast-ball over the plate. But those errant DJ passes ... dang that T.Elliott and his awful play-calling.
Try harder next time, Hotsawce.

Somehow it didn’t shut down their offense.

Do you remember the 3rd and 10 with TP (a crucial part of the game in the 3rd) and your boy Tony Elliott runs a ####### QB run off tackle for almost no gain?
God I hope I’m wrong, but there’s almost overwhelming evidence that Tony is inept.

a couple years. The people who saved up for 5 years for the airbrushed coaching staff mural on the side of their custom van don't want to see it split up so they make sophomoric arguments like "well we did ok last year he must be good".

Either you are a newer Clemson fan or you had not paid close attention to some of the coaching searches over the last few years. Elliott was on the short list of candidates to interview for many open jobs. His refusal to interview with other programs while Clemson was still playing self selected that he would not be a viable candidate. Teams did not want to wait until January to get a new coach on board.
His salary also makes starter jobs at FCS or even schools like Coastal or App State all that appealing. He already makes more money than the Head Coach at those schools.

but he has been linked to several job openings over the years. Must not have been what he wanted or not what they decided.

He was being highly selective.

There is no doubting his appeal. Consider:
-OC for a top program -Won two national titles as a coach -Young -Intelligent -African-American
He could get plenty of head coaching jobs, but he’s been picky because he likes being at Clemson and already makes more than most FBS head coaches.

Its easy to assume, based on some head scratching hires around the country, that ADs dont know what they are doing, but believe it or not, most of them actually do their homework.

Fundamentally, our O was this bad last year. We simply had overwhelming talent that somewhat covered up the fact. When we met near equal talent, it was a BuckNut rout. Good coached teams can play over their head. If we don't overwhelmingly out talent an opponent, it turns out bad. We could play over our head T.L. Freshman year. Past that, the offensive scheme just rode his and Etienne coat tails.
