Realistic Football Predictions?

Feb 12, 2023, 10:26 AM

The best returning players of the team:

Cade Klubnik
Antonio Williams
Barrett Carter (absolute beast)
Will Shipley
Tyler Davis
XT
Andrew Mukuba
Ruke O.
Walker Parks
Blake Miller
Beaux Collins

There are also freshman that will make immediate impact, as well as Garrett Riley.

Clemson has a top 5 national roster no doubt, do we expect to make the playoff, NC?

Never was a fan of the Streeter promotion and thought we should have gone out of the program 2 years ago before he was hired. Saying that streeter was probably handcuffed by DJ being quarterback. We still have many issues on this team. We have coaches that have no business being on a program of this caliber. Gresham, CJ, Conn, Hall to name a few. LB depth, DE position in general. We had so many misses in recruiting and players transfer out in the 2018-2020 classes. Defense underachieved last year for a variety of reasons. Receivers are not good. Maybe the by product of QB play. Offensive line bad year in and year out. Im glad for the GR hire but not ready to anoint him as a saviour. Time will tell. Hopefully he can change the dynamic of entire offense.

I agree about Streeter.

Aside from DJ, if you were observe closely the progress of DW and TL, you could argue they showed more lackluster play for lack of a better word. Of course DW had a legendary Junior year and beat Bama, and TL won a championship too. But I just think it was more because of Scott, Elliot, and talent around the QB position.

Coaches that have no business being at a program of this caliber? Sounds like you're not a fan of the old " Friends & Family Plan. " 🤣🤣🤣
Honestly I agree. College football is 80% recruiting. Additionally, your going to have to have a good NIL program, offer the ability to play for CFP championship & a record of getting players in the pro. To get the best talent. Other than Eason & Reed none of the other position coaches don't have a consistent track record of sending players to NFL. May be time for some coaching staff changes if we don't make playoffs next season. Time to get back to Best is the Standard.

Realistically? Expect to make Playoffs - no.***

Garret Riley is the BV of offense

Feb 12, 2023, 11:51 AM

Our defensive coaching is Jeff Scott with Tony Elliott caliber

Our Texas Offense is about to put up 45pt halves
I just know the CFB world will be in awe

Expect a playoff? I'm not sure. After watching 2 years of incompetence on offense, I need to see with my own 2 eyes some actual improvement first. Plus, I need to see the secondary take 2 steps forward from this previous season and become consistent. Also, need to see what the Dline will look like with the new faces. Don't want to count the chickens before they hatch.

Speaking of chickens. Coots are gonna get run out their coop this November. That I do expect.

We would if there were 12 teams next year, but next year is the final season for 4 teams. I mean we maybe get in with 2 losses but I wouldn’t trust it.

2024 student level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep. Was thinking 12 team started next year. We can only lose 1 at most and get in 4 team***

2023 Season

Feb 14, 2023, 7:32 AM

I don’t know what will happen but, I do know what needs to happen. The team needs to make the playoff and be competitive. The results of the past two season have made recruiting more difficult . Another non playoff year will not be good at all.

Re: Realistic Football Predictions?

The offense will be much better.

The defense is a question. I'm not sold on Wes Goodwin. He had a stacked defense that underperformed last year. Experienced depth is going to be an issue at several positions this season. He has his work cut out if we're going to see significant improvement.

Either way, Im not sure we're a playoff team just yet. We have too many unanswered questions at WR, and Defensive Coordinator at the moment. There's enough talent at WR to produce, and more than enough on Defense. The questions I have are how quickly can the WRs improve, and will we see significant defensive improvement?

ACC championship

Feb 14, 2023, 8:09 AM

The question is, who's your competition for the playoff? I just don't think we're as good as Alabama, Ohio State Michigan and Georgia. I think we could finish in the top 10, but I don't really see us in the playoff. Quite frankly, we need to worry about beating Florida State, Notre Dame and South Carolina before we start talking "playoff"

I don't know that we're top 5 in roster at the moment. Top 10 though, which might be good for #1 in the ACC. I wish we had the expanded playoffs this season. I would say we're good at QB and RB (why list Shipley but not Mafah, who's a better running back?) Unclear on wide receiver, but if Stellato can come back healthy, it might be an okay unit. Defense should be about the same as last year. Good, but not elite. Kicker will take a step back. Clemson might have to go undefeated for the playoffs after the last few years. I think that will depend if the offensive line can take the next step. They got demolished against Notre Dame and Tennessee last year. If they can, then Clemson has a shot at the playoffs. I don't think we have the dogs to win the title though without remarkable changes.

I said after DJ's Sophomore year I didn't think we would get back to the playoffs until it expanded. Unfortunately, I still feel that way. I think we will have a solid season but believe we fall short of finishing in the Top 4.

Give us a year to break in Riley's offense and let Cade get his first full year under his belt, and pray for a solid 2024 recruiting class then 2024 should be our year to get back on track and make a run in the playoffs.
