I hesitate to post on this topic because I’m ready for the season and to focus on actual football as it should be a special season. But I heard from a reliable buddy of mine that in around 4 weeks we are announcing we are leaving the conference… that’s all he told me so I don’t know where we are going or any other details but he’s the one that give me my recruiting and Clemson intel.

I hate realignment talk as well. I just wonder after Tex/Okl announced for the SEC, what if the ACC would’ve aggressively went after Oklahoma St, Baylor, and TCU?
It would’ve definitely made football better, but would the TV package gotten better?

No, it would not have made the TV package better. Oregon and Washington didn't even make the Big Ten's TV deal better, so no Oklahoma St., Baylor, and TCU would not have helped the ACC.

How reliable is your buddy? That would be fantastic.
I’m hearing and reading that the ACC is close to getting the votes needed to allow SMU and Calford. My feeling is that we need to get out ASAP. The ACC will be unrecognizable when those teams get in.

If it ends up being wrong I’ll own it just like I have for all the other things I’ve posted. I’ve yet to have to do that besides a small misunderstanding about Gipson and Hampton, and that was on me for misunderstanding.

The presidents call a joint press conference, say on Thursday or Friday of game week. They announce that in 2025 they will both be leaving the conference.
Then on Saturday, they could hold another press conference and announce they have applied for and been accepted into the SEC.
Maybe they could do it on GameDay.

I was just reading the other day while the 2024 deadline to notify leaving the ACC has passed some ACC insiders believe that the FSU notice will be announced sooner than later for exiting summer of 2025.

You might be right, but if I’m wrong I’ll own it and not disappear like York tiger or the dude of WV…. I’m just relaying what was told to me by someone I trust and also it’s someone who has never mentioned anything about realignment to me and has stood firm around other rumors for months “I’ll believe it when I see it.” So getting an out of the blue text about it, from him, made me think it had enough legs to post on here.

It might not have anything to do with class in regard to the announcement. Could always be something where they've already informed the conference, the conference then asked them to hold off until after they get the 3 teams added, and they acquiesced. I would assume announcing the move would be something we'd need to do sooner than later, regardless of when we actually move, and it would allow Dabo to recruit off of it too.

With respect, am not sure I understand why the concern about getting along with YANKEE fans. How many fan bases do Clemson fans get along with in the ACC...certainly not NCS, FSU, Miami, VT, Pitt and the like. I would look forward to competing in either the B1G or the SEC.

Well, I do know this: that just doesn't sound like how Clemson does business. At all. That just isn't the Clemson way of doing things.
With that said, I think it's wishful thinking on the part of a few and I mean no disrespect---you've been right on a few recruiting nuggets. But I think it's a stretch that a recruiting insider would have intel on conference re-alignment. Just sayin'.

I don't think an offer from SEC/B1G will be forthcoming until they are out of the ACC.
Having said that, after 25 years of rumors about us leaving to join other conferences, I'm at a "believe it when I see it" state of mind, regardless of the source.

The reason Clemson is not already gone is the cost of leaving the ACC. I don't see how Clemson and FSU could just walk out unless the league gaining them will pay the departure fees or at least a large percentage of them. I could imagine another league with lots of schools taxing each of its current members a small piece of the money due, with Clemson and FSU picking up a percentage, possibly paid out over several years. The justification would be that the TV money could become even greater with FSU and Clemson in whichever league takes them. Of course I have no idea if the financial arrangements I am suggesting are even possible.

If we did switch our vote to a yes on the additions, I'd assume we got more concessions than just "we'll distribute the slush fund to the conference winners". Especially when the additions of the 3 teams is value dilutive and would open themselves up to lawsuits as a result.

Wow, mid season announcement would be crazy but my feeling is B1G as SEC has footprint in the SC region and while it is a mudprint, that mudprint is only a short distance away from Clemson.
B1G just seems so strange as a match for the Tigers and Seminoles, who I feel will be side by side when the move does come to fruition.

The problem I have with the realignment vote is that Notre Dame gets a vote and they are not a full member (thanks John Swofford). I think Clemson needs to vote against it just for the fact that Notre Dame gets a share of the money and they they have their own tv contract with NBC. Anyone feel they same about this?

The "reliable sources" and conferences are reevaluating our worth. I suspect that we could still get into Conf USA or Sunbelt as we stand now but to the authors defense, we still have two more days to put ink to paper.
