Brad has fully embraced the new landscape of collegiate recruitment.
Perfect panacea for the challenges of recruiting against bluebloods.
Of course we have no idea how this year’s team will turn out but at least CBB is in the hunt.
And Coach Poppie is killing it! He is going head to head for top players and reeling them into Clemson. Very exciting times for the team as the program moves forward.
GO TIGERS!!!

Excellent point. I'm excited about bball this season. There's a couple kids I'm sure Brad didn't want to lose but that's college sports. Every team we have has embraced the new landscape except for Dabo.
Brad is pulling in some good recruiting as well.

I have always supported Coach Brownell. Just has the Judge has.
It’s much easier to manage a roster of 15 to 20 players than it is to manage a roster 105 plus players. It’s much easier to scout for 2 to 4 spots than 15 to 30 spots.
You are comparing Apples (Clemson Football) to Oranges (Clemson Basketball). You can’t compare the 2 programs or the management of the 2 sports.
Let’s not forget that many fans have called for Brownell’s Head for several years.
Give Dabo the time he has earned to turn Clemson Football headed back up the ladder. !!! Don’t turn on him at the time Clemson Football needs your support the most !
May God be with Brad B if he has adversity this season. How will the Special Fans at Clemson react ???

Dabo has access to resources, finances, and support that Brad can only dream of. Expectations for Dabo should be in line with those resources.
We are in the midst of a 5 year decline in our football program. Would Alabama, Ohio State, or Georgia tolerate this? Because those are programs considered peer programs just a few years go. We've really fallen a lot. Dabo has had time to make improvements and his efforts have not been fruitful.

All of those programs have tolerated bad years, some by some Hall of Fame coaches. Until this year, our bad years have only been bad when compared to our recent run of phenomenal results. Most schools would love to have our record for just about any of the past 10 years before this one. And your whining about resources is old and stale. Clemson is investing in basketball at a very high level when you consider the revenue it generates. But you do you. We’ve all read the book, seen the movie, and bought the t-shirt.

Swinney got the keys to the kingdom after winning with less, not before. I suspect had CBB come in and won a couple of natties, and Swinney had struggled to simply win a conference title much less a natty, that you'd be over in the football thread whining about how Swinney can't win because he doesn't get what the basketball program gets.

The ACC was as bad in basketball last year as any year I can remember. And I started watching ACC basketball in about 1976.

The ACC is just a shell of what it once was. A watered down league, and Clemson basketball has been average. Everyone on the board knows it minus a few.
I’m hoping for great things this year but after reading some pre season analysis on ESPN I was a little bit disappointed to be honest.

My hot take is Brad will make Clemson consistently top 5 in the ACC moving forward. He only seems to do well when he has a team that is experienced, which is probably why he made the tourney every 3-4 years before the transfer sit-out rule was thrown out.
Since the portal, he's brought in experienced players who play smart and physical. Not to mention some high-level transfers have been brought in (see Joe Girard, Jack Clark, Viktor Lahkin, Nick Davidson, Carter Welling, etc.).
This will be the first year of a complete rebuilding (or retooling) so if this year goes well, Brad just might have found his stride.

I hope you are right. Brad has been, IMO, the biggest beneficiary of the decline of the ACC as a basketball powerhouse. Also, Brad has proven to be better at buying players than recruiting them. Yet, despite his success the last few years, he still can't win more than one game in the ACC tournament, if any. I have completely given up all hope of winning the men's ACC basketball tournament as long as Brownell is the Clemson head coach. If I am wrong, please tell me either (1) in what season Brownell will win the ACCT or (2) if that is not possible, how many more seasons does Brownell get to accomplish this feat? Seems to me he has been given a lifetime contract, despite his numerous post-season gaffes.

Why do you think brad has benefitted more than any ither ACC coaches? Isnt it a good thing that the challenges of being in the ACC hasn't effected clemson basketball as much as other ACC schools?
Why do clemson "fans" try to demean Brownell's success by saying the ACC is down when in reality we are facing all the same challenges as every other ACC team.

Not counting UNC's play-in win in the NCAA tournament, only one ACC team advanced to the second round. Not what I would consider the play of a powerhouse conference.

Probably because it is the truth! Mountaineer, I figured you to be an older guy and would know that the current ACC is a lot different these days. Lot more bad conference teams = more conference wins. I’m hoping for great things but I do not think we have turned any type of corner when comparing current records with Clemson teams from the past. I believe Barnes in today’s ACC would have a couple of ACC championships.

I agree that the league is down. Why would brad be the biggest beneficiary? How does the conference being down benefit brad more than other coaches?
Why do you think that other schools have declined, while clemson continues to get better?

I'm with you on the ACC tournament; I'm still treating that like a national championship until we finally win one. I think Brad is a good coach and great portal recruiter, but I'm not 100% convinced he cares about a conference tournament championship. I think once Brad has the team locked into the NCAA tournament, he solely focuses on prepping for that. The last few years the team has looked totally flat against teams they should've beaten handedly, like BC, SMU, and Louisville (I'll die on the hill that they should have won, they had a 4-minute scoring drought that would've put them over the edge had they scored two baskets).

But this argument is odd.
The coach who has embraced the portal, and whose stock is rising, has won no championships. The coach who has not embraced the portal, and whose stock is falling, has won a championship in the past 10 months.
