since 1998. He really needs to show some improvement there next year. Anything worse than 9-3 will have him squarely on the hot seat - especially with the SEC looming in 24.

Let's give CBV some time. They paid him, a long time Sooner coach, a lot of money to get their program going in the right direction. Hot seat would only be an issue if his team completely bombs out over the next couple of years. I'm guessing he stabilizes things and improves that defense. But, the SEC thing is really the looming threat.

That 6-7 OU team looked like a 3 win hot mess at best on Oct 9th. CBV did a heck of a job pulling that team back together with some wins against ranked teams and competitive losses. He’s assembled a top 5 recruiting class for ‘23. Things will get better before they enter the SEC.

Oklahoma fans certainly won't after winning 10+ games almost every year for the last two decades under Stoops and Riley.

Great point, but Riley is the direct reason BV has so much work ahead of him. Riley (somewhat) pulled a Jimbo Fisher & just about destroyed OK on the way out the door. Then brings the best talent OK had with him to USC.
Not knocking Riley's coaching, but he couldn't get OK over the hump & competing for Nattys either.
