Separate out the items.
Only the fiscally irresponsible lefties (redundancy) are good with a terrible part of a bill that gets imbedded in a larger overall bill.
As usual, the Democrat politicians reflect the automaton nature of their constituents.
Big Brother whistles and they all come running and bleating.
Not an independent-minded impulse in any one of them.

Make the flying of immigrants on taxpayer dime a separate bill that has a chance to pass. Don't tack it on in the 11th hour, knowing it won't make it because of the overall situation, just to play stupid political games.
Why is this hard to recognize?

All Senate Dems vote against barring taxpayer funds to fly illegal migrants to US towns Sen. Hagerty says Democratic lawmakers' votes are 'indefensible' By Emma Colton Fox News Published March 24, 2024 3:47pm EDT

close Biden signs $1.2T government spending bill after late night Senate vote
Every Democratic lawmaker in the Senate voted against an amendment that would bar taxpayer funds from being used to fly illegal aliens to U.S. towns and cities, according to the Republican senator behind the amendment.
"Tonight every single Senate Democrat voted against my amendment that would stop Biden Admin from using taxpayer dollars to charter flights for hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens from their countries directly to American towns to be resettled," Republican Tennessee Sen. Bill Hagerty tweeted early Saturday morning.
"Indefensible," he added. placeholder
Hagerty announced earlier last week that he was set to file an amendment to the appropriations bill that would "prohibit federal funds from being used to secretly fly illegal aliens from other nations directly into states across the country," according to his office’s press release.
7.2M ILLEGALS ENTERED THE US UNDER BIDEN ADMIN, AN AMOUNT GREATER THAN POPULATION OF 36 STATES
The amendment was in response to recent news stories reporting the Biden administration flew an estimated 320,000 illegal immigrants from their home nations to the U.S. in 2023.
"Let me cut through the procedural language here. I’m bringing forward a vote on a very simple question: Do you support American taxpayer dollars being used to fly illegal aliens into the United States from places like Venezuela and Haiti, into America to be settled in towns and cities near you? If so, then vote against me. Vote ‘no’ to preserve the practice of using taxpayer dollars to charter planes that move and import thousands of illegal aliens into your states," Hagerty said Friday on the floor of the Senate.

Lawmakers voted the measure down, 51-47. All Democrats voted against the amendment, but no Republicans did.
The amendment was included in the Senate’s late-night vote Friday to avoid a government shutdown. The House passed the $1.2 trillion government funding bill earlier Friday, before making its way to the Senate, where lawmakers were in a standoff on whether to vote on amendments to the bill. "Let me explain what’s happening right now," Hagerty said on X ahead of the vote on the bill and his amendment. "Democrat Senators are afraid to take a position on Biden’s failed policies by voting on amendments to the appropriations bill. They’d rather shut down the government than take a position on President Biden’s failures."
BORDER PATROL UNION BOSS SAYS BIDEN ‘SLAPPED EVERY AMERICAN IN THE FACE’ DURING STATE OF THE UNION
The Senate ultimately cleared the spending bill after the midnight deadline to avert a government shutdown, following votes on a handful of Republican-backed amendments and proposals. The Senate voted 74-24 to fund the government through September, sending the bill to President Biden’s desk, which he signed Saturday.
None of the Republican-backed amendments passed. If any amendments had passed, the bill would have returned to the House, which just began a two-week recess, for review. Bill Hagerty

Hagerty’s tweet detailing how each Democrat voted against his amendment has racked up more than 30 million views as of Sunday, with critics of the Democratic lawmakers’ votes yielding condemnation online.
"This is insane!" tech billionaire Elon Musk tweeted.
"We're witnessing in real time the planned and controlled destruction of this country," former University of Kentucky swimmer and activist Riley Gaines tweeted in response.
Hagerty responded to Musk's tweet, arguing Democrats "are trying to hide" his legislation.
"That’s why Chuck Schumer scheduled this vote in the middle of the night (on Friday). He did the same 2 weeks ago on my vote to stop illegals from being counted in the census. They are trying to hide it," he posted on X Sunday morning.

And probably intentionally so. From the article:
The amendment was included in the Senate’s late-night vote Friday to avoid a government shutdown. The House passed the $1.2 trillion government funding bill earlier Friday, before making its way to the Senate, where lawmakers were in a standoff on whether to vote on amendments to the bill.
This spending vote was already happening Friday night and had NOTHING to do with Hagerty's last minute amendment. It was to avoid a government shutdown. There was nothing secret or sneaky about it; everyone in the nation knew it was happening.
And why didn't they pass the amendment?
None of the Republican-backed amendments passed. If any amendments had passed, the bill would have returned to the House, which just began a two-week recess, for review.
Which would have resulted in a government shutdown. So very clever of Hagerty. Throw in last-minute amendments that can't be passed without shutting everything down, and then feign outrage over it.
So you either fell for his trick, or you contributed to the lie.

Why would the government have to shutdown? Just accept the amendment and vote on the bill. What’s so bad about a government shutdown?

Otherwise, it shuts down.
So if you were a senator, you would have froze up all those peoples' jobs and their pay just to get this one little nugget in there when you could introduce it as a separate bill later?
To answer your question to me, no, in that circumstance, I wouldn't, but I would gladly vote to stop that spending in a separate bill. But not for one that's playing cheap politics in that given situation.

Yeah, I didn’t understand that it would’ve had to go back to the house. So that definitely looks like some political ######## he was trying to pull. The article did say he announced earlier last week he was set to file an amendment. Did he file it earlier last week or wait until the last minute? I’ll admit I don’t know how all of that works.
What exactly happens when the government shuts down?

You (and Fox) presented this as a, "Oh, look at the evil Dems voting to keep flying in illegals!" When in reality, Hagerty threw this measure in as a political stunt where the Dems had no choice but to veto it (and he knew they would) because of the timing of the spending bill.
Your OP is a DISHONEST representation of what happened, intentional or not.
You even LIED and said Schumer plotted this secretly at night when, in fact, this was a much bigger bill that was being voted on and EVERYONE knew it was happening that night. Every single media outlet.
Now if you want to tell me you just read the headline and made false assumptions, I'll entertain that. THAT is why I asked you to post the whole article.

Thanks for posting the article, I guess, which you should have done the first time so people don't have to sign up for Fox. Even I copy and paste NY Times articles for y'all so you don't have to pay for them.
I doubt you read the article, because if you had, you would have known why that amendment couldn't pass and you wouldn't have claimed Schumer held the vote in some secret Friday session (to which two other idiots jumped in here to make claims like the media was asked not to report it).
Nothing in your OP was accurate or honest. Again, here's how it happened:
This spending bill was scheduled with a strict deadline to prevent government shutdown. Hagerty tossed something cheap on there because he knew if it passed, it would shut down the government. He knew the Dems had to vote against it, and he knew the Pubs could all vote for it without shutting down the government. There was no secrecy. Even Fox lays it out in the article when you get past their initial hand-wringing.
You either didn't read the article OR you didn't understand the article OR you lied. Pick one because there isn't an Option D.

1

|
Because... because... Hagerty said so? Wow.
They had a 12:01 a.m. deadline to pass the entire spending bill. Even then, they didn't make the deadline completely. This is not the first time this has happened. This vote wasn't schedule around Hagerty's amendment. It was right up until the last minute to hash all of this #### out.
They also couldn't vote on it until the House sent it to them, and that was mere hours before the deadline.
Hagerty is a liar, and you, at best, are just being a useful tool in helping him spread that lie.
The only grace I'm willing to give is that you may not understand how this all works, which apparently is starting to appear to be the case with a lot of people here.

He posted that all 51 Democrat senators voted for the bill.
As TNet’s self-proclaimed ‘Independent,’ you sure carry the water for Biden’s submersion of America’s bills. Justifying the free flights for llegal immigrants part as if this had to be included in the overall bill is simply jibberish.
A true ‘Independent’ would challenge the ‘it’s all or none’ propaganda for justifying passage of the bill. Looks like your impulse to wave the Hammer & Sickle overwhelmed your ‘Independent’ beliefs.

The reason this amendment was defeated is because had it passed, it would have sent the bill back to the House and THUS SHUT DOWN THE ENTIRE GOVERNMENT. Because the House had already taken a two-week recess.
Why is it so hard for y'all to understand this?
Look, I know you're an idiot. But you can't be this big of an idiot. Hagerty clearly tacked this last minute amendment on to stir up... well, the stupids.
Introduce this measure as a new bill and then vote on it. And you know what, numb nuts? I'll support cutting that funding.

Hagerty had announced before they got the bill that he was going to propose this amendment. It wasn't added to the #### bill. It never was. Hagerty brought this to the floor early Saturday morning.
Listen, I'm willing to concede that you probably don't understand this situation or how it works, but you really should own up to the Schumer claim. The bill was already set to be worked on that Friday night and had nothing to do with Hagerty's amendment.

and the HOR currently has a rule that bills/changes have to have a 2-week period (I think it's 2 weeks...could be wrong there) before voting on said bill/change. So since the gov was going to shut down on Saturday, approving that amendment onto a spending bill having nothing to do with that amendment would have shut the gov down.
