I didn't watch a minute of the uof6c/Auburn game...

We were having dinner with some friends one of whom is a Utah alum so I was watching the Oregon/Utah game instead.
However, I did notice that social media absolutely blew-up over the punt by uof6c near the end of the game, so I did watch the replay of the punt. While I don't really have a dog in the fight and didn't really care one way or the other, Auburn got totally jobbed on that call.
Mike Bobo may be one of the worst offensive coordinators in the business and even if Auburn gets the ball back, I'm not sure they do anything with it but wow...just wow !!!!

You cannot always tell from replay, but if the ball even touched the others players pants, it's a live ball and I am thinking the referees might have noticed a slight deflection in the balls direction.

Yes. All the subsequent debate belies the “indisputable” requirement.

Birmingham made the call to make them bowl eligible even though they are bottom dwellers.
It’s not show friends, it’s show business.

Watch it again. The "evidence" isn't what the ball does, it's what the player does. When the ball goes past him and brushes by his leg, he turns and looks down at it. He felt it hit him and then threw his hands up and moved out of the way.

and you think that proves the ball actually touched him?

I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.

Reactions Don’t Lie

Definitely reacted as if it touched him…I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player yip when not hit. Of course, it’s more fun to envision Vince Dooley up in the booth, calculating how to screw Clemson during a SEC game.

You seem like the kind that loved him some Jake Bentley.

I think it was last year that Auburn got the benefit of...

bad replay calls and won both games (Arky and Ole Miss?) . It was their turn to get screwed. Besides, you cannot tell me that the SEC didnt consider the records and Carolina being at 5 wins staring down us the next week. They knew the reversal guaranteed another SEC bowl eligible team.

That's funny because that was my first thought too...

The same reason UGa will tank in the $ECCG against Bama.
UGa is in the CFP regardless of the outcome of the SECCG, while a two loss Bama is likely out.
However, if Bama beats Georgia, the $EC will get two teams in the CFP.

Game should have never come down to that call anyway. Auburn simply refused to give the ball to their best player (Tank) in the 4th quarter. Rather, they tried to let an unproven backup QB throw the ball, even though he was largely ineffective for the first 3 quarters. I know we like to complain about our own play calling, but Auburn's was downright comical. Almost like they were trying to let USuC win the game?

Agree. I don't get worked up about the refs. Over a 12 game season some calls go your way some don't.
You have 4qrts to beat the other team. Don't leave it to the refs or one play.
I watched Auburn. Bobo et al. Were out coached. No way they should have lost that game.

Watched some of first half and saw a replay of punt. Going for it from own 29 on 4th and 3 with 2 mins left in first half cost auburn that game. Punt didn’t touch Auburn but I don’t think they could’ve gone and scored. Tailback white is good and receiver vann looked good. Their qb played pretty well. Our defense is way better than auburns. We just need to not turn it over and we win 27-14 or something like.
