Any of our current commits that even think about switching to SMU can gladly go right on because they aren't all in.

And that would absolutely mean that they don't have any thoughts about winning championships during their college career. And with any of our recruits, if they're not thinking about winning championships, they're not thinking of giving the 110% it takes to win them. But Morris bull chited Deshaun, and Deshaun won't be his last one either. The SMU program is many years away from being a championship contender even if they had Morris and BV. An O/12 team don't go from 0/12 to 12/0 in 3 or 4 years. If Morris could keep a solid staff together there with him, they would be looking at 5 or 6 years plus of great recruiting classes before thinking about National championships. JMO

So what's the problem with this?
Dec 3, 2014, 12:10 PM

This is somebody he was recruiting, so of course he's going to try to continue the relationship. I have a hard time believing a guy from Florida with a lot of offers is going to SMU, anyway.

It's to a 2016 recruit...with 57 offers from other schools. The kid is a national recruit...not a regional one.

If he would take an offer from SMU, at this point, he is not thinking straight. In a few years, if things get a whole lot better there, maybe, but not to offer himself as a Guinea pig.

He has to recruit to build himself and his program a team. He has a lot of hard recruiting ahead of him to do. The only thing that bothers me is, will he dirty recruit against us just a couple days after he leaves us.

I really hope Tigernet doesn't report every single recruit Morris goes after that Clemson also offered. If recruits want to go there, then they want to go there. It is what it is.

recruits are open to everyone, and Morris certainly is a good recruiter. But remember, he is working with an winless team that he will be building his way, but the fact remains they do not have the athletes at this point to compete with other programs. He will turn them around I have no doubt, but not worried about commits heading to SMU when considering Clemson who could be in position to make run at playoffs!! Then again they should be able to get some playing time very early, which many recruits probably like.

The Chad works somewhere else now folks , and he has to recruit players just like Dabo does. I have absolutely zero problem with him offering anybody we have an offer extended to ...that is just CFB business. The idea that a kid would choose SMU over Clemson is patently ridiculous anyhow , barring them being a Texas native or having ties to the Dallas area.

I agree! We don't want anybody that doesn't want to be here anyway. Clemson is a top ten program. We play a solid ooc, a great program that is nationally recognized. Why would you go to SMU even with CM? CU is built to win. Go Tigers!

Maybe he has a great relationship with this kid, and he was had picked for the offense. I doubt this hurts our chances very much with getting the recruit though.
Chad is allowed to recruit players he really likes for his system. I don't think he can flip any of our 2015 commits, and unless he sees a lot of success at SMU, I can't imagine him taking any of our 2016/2017 prospects. Garrett Williams would be the only recruit I think he could flip.
He's just trying to be as successful as possible

It'll be interesting to see how their recruiting develops. They only have 1 4-star per Rivals, and that's a pro-style QB. Three 3-stars and seven 2-stars. Coach Chad has to step up the recruiting or it could be another dismal season. No doubt he will turn things around, but that's a tough backyard to recruit in. 2 out of 3 of their first games next year are Baylor and TCU, and I'll bet they're homecoming plans for several other schools.

It's not a current Clemson player so he's fair game. Even if he was a commit that doesn't matter in the end it's up to the player. But he's a 2016 target that apparently is being targeted by half the schools in the nation. Chill peeps.

Need Pre-Recruiting Agreement
Dec 3, 2014, 5:41 PM

When we cut the high $$$ deal with Morris, too bad Terry Don wasn't savvy enough to add in a "When you leave to become a head coach somewhere" clause that would have prohibited The Chad from offering ANY of our commits or high caliber targeted recruits. Enforce it with a "held back" $$$ amount to make him behave...

I really don't think that Dustin Fry would be to cool with watching his HC dirty recruit against us. And I think that all uncommitted recruits should be fair game for Morris when all other schools will go after what we do have committed. I think that out of honor and respect, Morris should stay away from all 2015 committed recruits. After signing day 2015, he should have the right to recruit anybody he wants to try and get, committed or not. Putting cuffs on him after the 2015 class by our fan base is wrong. He is on his own now, and should have the same rights as any other school out there recruiting the same recruits we recruit. It would have been dumb for him to take a job where he couldn't recruit against Clemson just b/c he was a coach at Clemson. I just ask him to leave our 2015 class alone out of respect for Clemson and the coaches he worked with at Clemson. After signing day though, go for it Chad, and get the best players you can get at SMU. I fully understand that its his job, and its what he is getting paid to do. Now if Morris and Dabo want to make an honorable agreement with each other that they won't come after recruits that they have committed after 2015, then great. That would a great deal made between two good friends.

by it's Mega rich fan base. SMU makes the money the SEC is throwing around look like change from the $ menu at McDonalds. So if you think SMU will be dormant long think again they have a dynamic personality as head coach new and growing facilities and a stack of cash a show dog can't jump over. SMU will be legit sooner than later. Good for Morris he was so passionate about Clemson I can only imagine how he will pour himself into the school he watched as kid growing up. SMU is a destination job for Chad I could not be happier for him. I for one will keep a close watch on SMU future progress. Go Tigers!!!!!

Wouldn't be surprised if he offered every Clemson recruit, commited or not. He's a Head Coach now and has to recruit good players to build "HIS" program to win. He knows who Clemson was after on both sides of the ball, and he has the right to try to get them to come to SMU. Doubt that he will be very successful in stealing anyone's recruits til he puts together a couple winning seasons. But can't blame him for trying.
