I wouldn't think so. Assuming Cade stayed healthy, we would be entering post-season with the same team that got us the undefeated record and would not be left out.

What if Cade got injured? I wouldn’t say he had anywhere close to the kind of season Jordan Travis did

I think the Paw would carry more weight than the Chief. Clemson is a proven winner in the playoff. FSU is not. Clemson is the only ACC team to make a playoff other than the first year when FSU went undefeated and got whacked by Oregon.

You're crazy if you think they wouldn't do the same thing to Clemson. Let's not pretend that FSU isn't a huge brand in college football.

Anyone saying we wouldn't have while also buying into the QB argument used against FSU is not arguing in good faith

If it were between us and the SEC getting left out, I think you already know the answer. They would have just pointed out poor offensive performance or something like that

I’d say no. History shows Clemson is a playoff contending team each year we’ve been in it (maybe sans the OSU COVID game). The Paw carry’s more weight in that committee room than the Chief, and it’s because we’ve proven we can win.

A lot would have depended who the opponent was in the ACC Championship game. Louisville did more to hurt FSU chances by loosing to KY.

We would have been left out with Cade not hurt. They were never going to leave the SEC out of the playoff. Idc if Travis never got hurt FSU would still be out. They would have said strength of schedule got FSU booted out. And it wasn’t just Alabama that jumped FSU, it was Texas also. Can’t put Bama in and leave Texas out.

Of course we would have been left out. They didn't want there the times we were in it! All you ever heard was how good the other 3 teams were and how Clemson got in because of their easy schedule. Never really heard that about any other program.

How about, would a #8 Clemson team that beat a crappy Auburn team, on a last second miracle, have remained #8?
I would ABSOLUTELY change the way Clemson plays teams. It would be straight up no mercy, EVER. If we’re up by 6 TD’s, I’m looking to make it 8.
According to the experts, Buster Douglass can’t beat Mike Tyson and neither can Evander Holyfield. Clemson can’t beat the best Alabama team in history. Boise State can’t beat the Bucknuts. And on and on and on. No matter how many times the EXPERTS are wrong, the EXPERTS can still NEVER BE WRONG. It is 10,000 trainloads of manure.
Wins don’t matter. The only way to know, is to ask the experts. They’re like Royals in Europe, they have special blood.

No, they wouldn't have been left out. And FSU would have 100% been in if Travis would not have been hurt and/or the backup QB(s) came in and gave some confidence they could have a competitive offense. Mickey shared some stats this morning I had not heard. In FSU's last 2 games their completion rate was the lowest of all football teams. Like 45% which is less than Rutgers which is 48 or 49%. And the yards per play is also the lowest of all the FCS teams.
Travis getting hurt and the QB2 getting a concussion was just a string of bad luck unfortunately. And the fact there was such a skill level difference for their backup QBs.

In 2018, Clemson had a Senior QB that led the Tigers to the CFP in 2017. He was undefeated and then replaced by a Freshman QB. The Tigers were not left out of the CFP. The difference in 2018, Bama was undefeated and a lock for the CFP. This year the SEC was not a lock.
If the SEC and CFP had known how good TL16 was, they would have used the replacement player clause in 2018.
Go Tigers, 44-16!

So if Travis had broken his leg against Clemson in week 4, then FSU had run the table with QB2 and QB3, they would be in with Bama ranked #8 and UGA having lost?
