Wipe the mud from your eyes

The deep state is real.
Look at the stock market from April to September. Smooth as silk.
Suddenly, September 1st. 2 months before the election, the roller coaster starts.
Magically, the day after the election, the market smooths back out.
Don’t bother with the Joe Biden effect crap. We know Sleepy doesn’t excite the market with his tax the rich ploy

Actually the death of Jeffrey Epstein is a hoax. He has orchestrated the entire election and is running a large pizza chain that offers more than pizza. He has played the stock market like a violin. Why is this being held from us NJDEV?

In your professional conspiracy opinion:

does the Deep State control the Illuminati? Or does the Deep State operate at the behest of the Illuminati? And if you achieve a high enough ranking in one organization, can you parlay that into a sweet gig at corporate (whichever one happens to be "corporate")?

Pretty dastardly how they took someone like him who is pulling the strings of the very fabric of our existence, and disguised him as a folksy retired restaurant equipment company owner.

There’s so many people involved in this big conspiracy

to bring down Trump, at this point is getting hard to keep track of.
It’s so funny watching Republicans become the party of conspiracy theories. All of these thousands of people across the US in many states and at many levels of power, from the lowly poll worker to the highest levels of our congress, business leaders and CEOs, all working together and following orders to bring down Trump. Seems reasonable

A husband and wife die and go to heaven
Dec 4, 2020, 9:15 AM
|
|
when they get to heaven the husband asks God, "God, was there fraud in the 2020 election."
God says "What fraud in the 2020 election?"
After a few minutes of silence, the husband whispers to the wife "This liberal conspiracy goes higher than any of us thought"

It's not just a Republican thing. Hillary Clinton-January 1998--opined that Slick Willie was the victim of a "vast right-wing conspiracy." Stay vigilant!

Hillary babbled on about a vast "right wing conspiracy" many years ago and we all laughed at her? And all those who bought into what she said?
I wonder how many of these Deep State people were laughing back then as well.

Well then they should join the party and start investing. I started 30 years ago and you better believe I was poor. I ain’t poe no moe and it’s because of the opportunities this great country provides for those willing to try. We can either sit around and complain about rich people or learn from them and decide to participate.

Close to 10% of our country lives in poverty. Much of America doesn't have the income. It was easier 40 years ago. Real wages didn't adjust enough. Cost of living is through the roof in much of America.

Not buying it. If you want to make it in America you can make it. Might have to work 2 jobs for awhile. Might have to make lots of sacrifices. Might not be able to have nice things for a long time but it’s there for the doing. I know what I’m talking about because I did it. So, I absolutely will not believe a person can’t make it here.

they believe that since their grandparents and parents were able to move up the ladder in the 60's-80's that anybody can without realizing that starting around the 80's the upper class pulled up the ladder and told them that it's because poor people are just lazy.

I understand your point I honestly do. My point is that when I started I couldn’t afford it either. But I found a way through sacrifice to begin with very tiny contributions. I just wish we could educate kids better in that regard. Start small but dream big. Also teach them to understand it’s a multi decade process. I’m teaching my grandkids that now. 2 of the 4 are actually listening. Lol. The other 2 are going to buy their “stuff” no matter what.

My sister is paying 1600 for a family of 3 just for health insurance. It's away tougher than when you did it. It is possible, but it's way harder. Heck, there are homeless people working full time jobs in some places, such as Anaheim at Disneyland. Those workers at Disneyland used to own homes in the 1960's.

Tardog,
Perhaps A person can, but in a country of hundreds of millions, can millions do it.
There are always exceptions. What do the macro numbers tell us about upward mobility for those in poverty ?

Seems to me the macro numbers would point to something like "Get a job!"
Pretty easy to do in Trump's economy. Probably not so much if Sniffy Joe gets in.

The numbers for those in poverty tell me more about the parenting and role modeling than they do about lack of opportunities. I understand that some people do not have the ability to do better. We help those. Jesus told us “the poor will always be among you”. He meant some can not do better and it’s my responsibility to help them. But the vast majority just need teaching, and role modeling. If poverty communities could make a better to reduce drugs, fatherless homes, the kids will be fine in America. It’s been said do 3 things in America and you almost can’t fail. 1) Finish high school. 2) Get a job, any job, and work hard at it. 3) Don’t get pregnant until you’re married. No reason poor kids can’t start right there.

That’s true to a degree...
Dec 4, 2020, 12:19 PM
[ in reply to Re: The rich get richer and the poor don't invest in the market*** ] |

but people who started poor and made it in America also tend to underestimate the amount of luck it took to get where they are as well. Not discounting desire and hard work, but there’s a reason people use the term ‘less fortunate’ to describe many who, for a variety of reasons, weren’t able to make it. Probably the biggest ‘luck’ you can have is simply being born into a stable and supportive household. It also helps to be a certain color, gender, religion, orientation, etc. I know many will discount these...and perhaps they are not as much a factor as they used to be, but certainly a factor from a geographical standpoint still today. So...I don’t disagree with your sentiment overall, but there’s way more at play that determines our success than most want to admit. I will say that many will say they have been ‘blessed’...and to some extent I agree...I just think true blessings are really just good fortune as opposed to some invisible hand at work.

Also, there used to be manufacturing jobs and people had great pensions. Heck, a high school teacher in Southern California used to be able to own a home.

We are not far off from agreement. Yes, I worked my tail off and I would never say I didn’t have some help somewhere along the way. I think it was Alex Haley who kept a picture of a turtle on top of a fence post in his office. He said “ I often look at that picture and remember that turtle did not climb up there by himself”. I get that and feel the same way. Yes, I was “fortunate” to be the product of poor parents but parents of a 66 year marriage. We have got to clean up single parenthood and teach our kids the role of the 2 parent home in success. No government programs will work until we fix our home. As for the “invisible hand” at work , yes, it’s invisible but very real to me. I have no doubt I owe my blessings to God.
